On the eve of this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix, Mercedes showed off their long-awaited upgrades for their troubled 2023 F1 car which includes new sidepods, front suspension and floor.
A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.
Looks like it has been incorporated as the top of the sidepod inlet.
It looks like an inverted Red Bull protruding lip. Overbite rather than underbite.
That midwing is so thick that the sidepod height from the top of the midwing to the bottom of the inlet creates little space for a possible undercut.
It's interesting and intriguing. The radiators are visible behind and appear to be the same angle/height. I wonder if they've done something really weird like a full width version of the 2022 Williams's sidepod aero hole.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.
Starting to see why this update has taken so long, fundamental aero change effecting most of the car and a front suspension change that simply has to have involved a tub change, but stops short of a new tub.
