GR biggest benefit was on lap 1.
Still sceptical how he apparently gained no benefit by just cutting the track. no chance that didn't happen.

Grand Chelem for Max. Simply lovely.

And P1 in each FP too.

He gained 5 places. How he escaped any penalty there is beyond me too.

Agteed. Even 5s penalty for clearing 5 cars would be well worth it. He got away Scot free

The alternative was a crash and red flag I guess.

If I were Ferrari or Aston Martin I would protest

I would not . Any penalty would judt be 5s and only enough to take away 3 points from Merc (swapping Russell and Perez). Just tell your drivers to do something similar and keep russell's t2 excursion in your back pocket as "precedent" for it being okay

Alonso intentionally did similar in Russia a couple years ago and then I think they changed rules , how they allowed this today I don't know.

Remember Bahrain '21, when others tell their drivers to do what Mercedes' are doing then it suddenly becomes illegal.

I don't think that's true. I have rewatched it and he passes a lot of cars off-track at t2

Ant said he gained most of that off line down to turn 1
