Aston Martin AMR23

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Lots of tech hidden away inside the brake ducts.

Judging by the inspection protocol, Aston Martin finally have deliverer the steering column Fernando Alonso requested for at the beginning of the season.

Another twitter BS.
That's a standard check by the FIA after a GP, randomly chosen. They controlled the steering system, they could have also controlled the FW or RW or whatever. That's absolutely no sign that there was something new.

What's that cut out at the back. It's massive.

I think the angle is deceiving. The cutout is like Ferrari pioneered last year.. the edge of the near side of the cutout is lowered whilst the leading edge of the far side of the cutout is raised, causing it to appear like a huge cutout from the front. From the rear the cutout would hardly be visible for the same reason

Can see this from the images in the post below. It's not ridiculously huge

But yes it's an extreme interpretation/version of the Ferrari cutout and edge wing, as is the rest of the floor edge to be honest

Any thoughts on level of detail now compared to the other top teams?

I know many of you knowledgeable folks had said Aston floor edge was on the basic side for this opening part of the season- does this upgrade excite you at first glance?
