Aston Martin AMR23

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

This fairing on the lower wishbone is new?
Are they allowed to do this and what are the benefits?
it will get cleaner air/non-turbulent toward the diffuser and local load?

Redzbull copy then optimization. Tick then tock. It's a good development strategy.

Maybe they designed at Redbull before they came to AMR?

Wasn't Fallows transitioned away from F1-related projects at the beginning of 2021?

Marko said

β€œIf you compare the cars, the Aston Martin is most similar to our Red Bull,” he told Sky Deutschland. β€œThere’s a reason for that.

β€œNot only did Fallows change, but also some other employees and they obviously have a good memory.”

They also took ex-Red Bull designer Andrew Alessi and one of the two top Merc aerodynamicists Eric Blandin.

New Rear Suspension ?
Looks to be new fairings (maybe not even that), angle aside the geometry looks the same

Maybe the shadow from the sun light, coming from the rear, is making the fairing appear curved on the back. The fairing is angled downward from the tire/brake hub side to the gearbox. The fairings are narrower....

Since they used the narrow waterslide for Canada this might mean the standard version is more suited to higher downforce tracks. No, they didn't use it anywhere else yet, but maybe the part wasn't ready earlier in the season. We'll see at other tracks. Track specific sidepods might become a trend in coming seasons.

Since they called it an upgrade, I would consider it an evolution and I doudt they're going back to the old one ever....baring extenuating circumstances. I'd be surprised.
