Re: no more split

I guess the question is what will happen now?

once max steps down, who will take over?

What about the new teams like Campos Meta Team, Manor Grand Prix and Team US F1? Will a promise of FOTA giving the newbies technical help be fair?

Moreover, is the Cosworth engine any good? coz last time It was not.

A well informed deduction from someone who lectures us on checking out multiple sources. I don't like the deal but I know that Monte didn't act independently in a back stabbing manner. For one, every team has to sign the new Concorde agreement individually so there is no way Monte could make any guarantees during negotiations unless he was in constant contact with the teams. And if you cared so much about verifying sources you would know that John Howett was pleased also.

But let's not allow facts to get in the way of your baseless assertions.

I wonder who is been labeled now?
Perhaps it would do some good to stop not only the flaming of other users but also the hate posting against public figurs whatever their perceived merits or sins are.
Reasonable debate should enable us to find facts without resorting to "poisonous dwarf" "Spanky" "Ferrari traitor" "the Toad" and many other insults that people throw around to denigrate some of the public figures involved in F1.
I admitt that I have use Flabby with a gusto but I will refrain for a while from using it, until the worst of the upset has died down.

Totally agree Whiteblue. Some of the anti Max comments are a bit below the belt, and very little posts commenting on all the positive work he has done over the years.

With all due respect, anybody can mention positive acomplishments, relatively, of almost any dictator on this planet past or present, including Hitler. Unfortunately the damages they inflicted on their respective 'domains' (for lack of a better word)almost universally overshadow any redeeming qualities they might have or have had. Even Mugabe has more redeeming features than spanky.

WhiteBlue, your statement is like a ray of sunshine breaking through a cloudy day. I for one have committed such low blows, and now I regret that. Most times I try to be respectful, but my emotions cloud my civilised behavior. Bottom line, if you cannot treat others with respect, how can you expect to be treated with respect yourself.

Getting back to the topic, I discovered this tidbit on a Brit web site:
On Wednesday, as part the deal committing the FOTA team to F1, Mosley announced he would not run for re-election when his current term of office expires in, bringing to an end his 16-year reign.
However, reports in the British media on Thursday morning claim he will in fact step down immediately.
'The 69-year-old confirmed he would not seek re-election in October for a fifth term of office. However, it is understood that he will, in fact, hand over responsibilities to Michel Boeri, president of both the FIA Senate and of the Automobile Club de Monaco, with immediate effect,' claims the Daily Mail.

Once again, please treat this with a grain of salt.
Racing should be decided on the track, not the court room.

To compare Max Mosley with mass murderers is so grotesque that is actually funny. Mosley may have an unpalatable sexual orientation and a certain ruthlesness in sporting politics but he has undoubtedly saved lives of racing drivers and motorists by his work. Let us get back to facts here. No bedtime stories like the big bad wolf.

Yes, but it may be argued that it was his ruthlessness to get rid of electronic aids and active suspension that led to 1994 events.

Spanky did not just have 'a certain ruthlessness' in 'sporting politics'. He is ruthless end of story. His use, quest and abuse of power is on a par with any dictator so much so that I dread to think what he would have done if he had the opportunity (ie a country to control). You may think he is saint, that is your perogative, which you are entitled to. I dont see him like this and until he proves to me otherwise (as if I really care), I reserve right to compare him to anything I choose, however vile.

That is the strangest kind of logic I ever heard. I thought that Senna deliberately lowered his ride height much beyond what his team felt was safe in search of more speed and it was Max Mosley who ordered stringent safety measures immediately after the accidents. Do I have to re learn my history there?

Of course in every single incident there is lots of causes and coincidences. However, would you argue that 1994 cars were beasts to drive? Besides Senna's death there was Ratzenberger's, almost fatal incidents with Barichello and Wendlinger, heavy crashes by Alesi, Montermini to name a few.
Here's a quote from Montermini himself
I mean we know what happened, but I must tell you that the cars at that time, especially in that particular moment, were very, very, very difficult, very unpredictable, very tough.

.. because the previous few months were brinkmanship and manoeuvring. They've talked around the subject so much that all the homework was done, they already had the propositions on the table and knew all the facts and figures.

I had a similar thing at work trying to agree an new budget this year. Spent moths with loads of spreadsheets, but the deal was done in a 5 min phone call.

So are you arguing that the FIA should have prevented those accidents by an earlier "dictatorial" safety campaign? I find that hard to believe. We had a Concord Agreement at that time and the FIA was just rubber stamping what the F1 commission decided unless it was an obvious safety issue. Driver aids in F1 were always regarded as a sporting issue and not a safety issue IMO. Unless I'm mistaken one of the following safety measures was a minimum ride height. And in 1994 there was allready the wooden plank which was brought in as a safety measure against excessively low ride height. So one cannot say that the FIA was exactly twiddling their thumbs.

Nothing can prevent such accidents as we have seen many times over the last two years (Ralf Schumacher, Robert Kubica, Nico Rosberg, Heikki Kovalainen et al.). Things break and people make mistakes. Only passive chassis safety and safety features of the tracks can prevent the consequences of such accidents to be tragic. The safety improvements of the last 15 years in F1 have been the result of the FIA doing research and implementing the necessary changes (with the exception of HANS perhaps).

That was clear example of how they interfered.

Wooden plank was brought in after Imola. Was in introduced before things probably would be different. I also remember complains from drivers that some of the measures that FIA introduced to cut speeds made cars even more unstable.

Also, with introduction of cockpit protection and HANS FIA always played catch-up game and never introduced something truly innovative.
