What is this, did MrM trick FOTA to sign something critical, which allows him to return to business as usual? Or has he simply lost his mind?

Perhaps the teams overlooked a loophole that allows him to stay 'a la' the DDD, ie. he's going against the 'spirit' of the new agreement but he's not technically breaking any promises.

You seem to be correct. Here's his quote
"Formula 1 is run entirely by our 25-strong team without any help from me or any other outsider. There was no need for me to involve myself further in Formula 1 once we had a settlement. Equally, I had a long-standing plan not to seek re-election in October. It was therefore possible for me to confirm both points to you yesterday."

MM is very angry @ luca di Montezemolo.According to formule1.nl he wrote a letter to mister Montezemolo where he demands an public excuse for his statements that he made. He is even reconsidering to be re-elected.

Luca said that from now on MM would not be in active duty anymore and will be replaced by Michel Boeri. That was bull according to MM.

Luca said MM behaved like a dictator which is a rude insult to MM and to all the members of the FIA who voted on him and his plans.

Mr Mosley, thou doth protest too much...

There's no more true a word said than one which creates that kind of reaction.

Mr Maximillian Mosley, this is your life...Now bugger off.

Why didn't Luca just shut up and wait until the next election. Not very diplomatic,

Strange thing is that I can't find anything Mosley claims was said in direct quotes from FOTA members except that he would stand down in October, but he said that himself too.

The continuous rules changes did not come from Max, it came from the teams... V8's, OWG, refuel ban, increased weight, 90% of rules changes over these years have come from the teams, and if they werent then Why didnt Ferrari depose them with their almighty VETO?

Red Bull is spending 200 mil euros this year, and that is without paying KIMI $50 plus mil, does that seem like a small amount? by comparison STR is spending about half that.

jamsbong, your posts are very much uninformed, I would suggest getting your F1 news from several sources rather then just the Ferrari or FOTA websites, or whatever biased, incomplete source from which you derive your info.

If KERS is allowed to remain, you will see alot more tems using it next year because of the resizing of the front tires(smaller) shifting the desired weight balance rearward... it will be even moreso a factor if the proposed weight increase (620kg) goes thru.

82 hp, 25 kg KERS is no more waste of money than $2000 one time use wheel nuts, or hours of CFD & wind tunnel time developing a minute winglet to hold a mirror.
Did I misinterpret this, and is that why no one has pounced on this yet... When did Kimi get contracted to Red Bull 8)

MY wife is a psychologist. I asked her last night to go over this thread. Her professional opinion is pretty darn good, and she said two things. Bad behavior, and attention-seeking. After awhile people learn to tune out this kind of distraction, and that life is better if they ignore such a negative thing. Besides, my uncle once said to me "don't get into a pissing contest with a skunk."

I believe that for at least the next five years, the cars will remain fundamentally the same. There will be no surprises from year to year, but instead a continual and minor refinement of the cars. I also expect that testing will revert to the past, with much more allowed. No engineer wants to enter a racing weekend with unknowns. This year, teams had that uncomfortable situation, where they had to learn tire properties on Friday and Saturday. That kind of situation will be eliminated.
Lately, FOTA members are starting to talk about improving fan experience. Such things as qualifying will probably change. But the actual cars, no.
Racing should be decided on the track, not the court room.

Luca also sits on the FIA senate so he should know if he was insulting the senate.

Max can call people “certified half-wits” and “loonies” but if ever an ill word is spoken of him he shoots off. He is clearly a vindictive hostile man. But he made a blunder here…

FOTA “not schmota” are done with Max. Enough with him. Nothing is signed yet. Max will only add to his humiliation. Now I am sure FOTA will required Max’s head on a platter in the form of a signed document before they ink any deals for 2010 and beyond. Max should just have absorbed the comments and disappeared with what little dignity remains. Now it will be a formal beheading or no deal. Stupid Max, real stupid.

Here is the contract requiring you to step down immediately Max... please sign here... OK, just sign one more copy, initial here and here, date it and look up, smile for the camera. That's a good boy Max. LOL

I don't think so. Montezemolo was sitting at the WMSC as representative of the F1Comission which is traditionally represented by Ferrari being the most senior team. Jean Todt used to have that seat. The FIA senat members are entirely FIA functionaires IMO.

http://www.fia.com/en-GB/the-fia/statut ... cle17.aspx

When Max Mosley becomes an ex president he will be a member of the senate. The FIA have already intimated that they have the option of reactivating him to deal with FOTA and the F1 comission should they feel that the conditions of the agreement were breached.

We had more consiliatory words yesterday from Fota:
The Chairman and FOTA also thanked the FIA President: “Mosley was very clear and honest. He said that he had thought about leaving already some time ago and that his staff knew about it. Therefore I have to say, in a moment when Mosley is leaving, that I have to thank him, beyond the points of controversy we had, because he has been working very well, especially as far as safety is concerned.”
I hope it stays that way and that we will see better relationships develop in the future.
