What were they spending in the early '90s?

Post

Does anyone know what the F1 teams were spending in the early 90s, and what this equates to now? I'd be interested to know.

Williams mentioned they had 70 mil in 1997. Benetton won the 1994 championship on a 30 mil budget. Those figures suggest that one would get into the magnitude that was set by the budget cap. The question that I have is not about average spending but about peak spending. If poor teams would have only 20 mil would rich teams be allowed to spend 100?
Formula One's fundamental ethos is about success coming to those with the most ingenious engineering and best .............................. organization, not to those with the biggest budget. (Dave Richards)

Don't forget to take inflation into account. Does a $50 million dollar budget from 1993 equate to a $80 million budget today?
