I am keeping my expectations in check(still praying they will light-up the screen) & few experts too -

While it could certainly be the case that Aston is not competitive, the "f1 expert" this article cites is Tom Bellingham and Matt Gallagher and it also fails to bring a single reason why that could happen... just that it will happen, for some reason.

I had been out on vacation while the Britsh GP occurred. I only watched the race today.

Someone here had said Alonso was in defensive mode the whole race. I didn't find that to be true. The whole time gasly was in DRS zone, Alonso was controling the pace. He had more pace but was lifting and coasting to manage the tires. Once they decided(Alonso and his engineer) to break Gasly from the DRS toe, he did it within a couple of laps and was was quickly 3 seconds ahead of him.

He lost all that time he built up in that first stint with the safety car. That being said, his pace on softs wasn't great.

He had alot of oversteer at first. They wanted to change the front wing down 4 ticks, later they said 2 tics and finally they decide to leave it as is. Not sure if that was gusts of wind or just the oversteer getting better as the fuel level dropped.

they are going on "gut feelings" just like everyone else after a couple of lackluster races, that also happen to be full of high speed corners. hopefully they will be back on form in Hungary, but we shall see

"Updates at every weekend" - Krack.

Updates for Hungarian GP:
- bigger engine cover for more cooling.

OK...

Poor showing today again.

Very sad and even strange to be so slow on one of the best track for the car

The car has looked seriously unstable since the 'updates'. Earlier in the year it looked planted. Maybe its faster but so strange to see rear snapping badly in practice. Anyone who paid attention to the mini sectors would have known their performance loss isnt track related. They have been massively out-developed by other teams, Iv been saying how disappointing it is that the team and even Alonso keeps talking about tracks. It show they have poor understanding of where they stand and their shortcomings.

There is no doubt the car has gone backwards with upgrades. It's draggy, unstable and has lost traction.

Don't forget the track was very green(after the rain) and AMR were one of the first teams to do single lap pace. The longer you wait the better traction you'll get.

Alonso did long runs on Mediums with fuel level like starting the race on Mediums. Stroll did long run pace on Mediums like he would have started on another tire.

There will no hiding place after this race. Better if they have got some extra in belly or downtrend will be confirmed. Hype and early season aura of dan follows will soon be fading away.
