If the race pace again matches our qualifying pace, I think it's safe to certify this as a legitimately good car now.

What about Softs is the question. Can we repeat our speed on the mediums?
I think the verdict is in.

The car is good.
It seems better here than on the high speed corners, have you ever seen an upgrade so strong as this? I cannot in my life think of another upgrade as effective as this.
If as implied by the team, this is what they were working on since the end of last year… It is not that surprising of a jump, it is a “Winter Jump” done in-season

Honestly I cannot. I always see those "we'll develop during the season" statements as wishful thinking. Everyone develops, the teams stay roughly where they started. But this update seems incredible.

From Austria being 3 tenths off Max to here being 2 tenths in front is unreal. It is an upgrade the likes of which I haven't seen since 2005 when Mclaren started half a second behind Renault and Alonso to being half a second faster from Spain and onwards.

We're only 2 tenths ahead of Max because of a deleted lap, McLaren are still a few tenths off the Red Bull, but does seem like the 2nd best car at the moment

Norris was less then a tenth behind "deleted" Max lap.

Norris did not make the second run.
Piastri aborted his second run.

I still expect Red Bull to be dominant and faster than McLaren, but Q2 did not show it.

But Max did make another lap and he still was 2 tenths slower. You can't underestimate that result.

Q3 and it's time to see if the car is so good to the softs as it is on the mediums.

The wild card is soft performance. Let’s see. The medium looks very good on the car

Looks slightly weaker compared to Red Bull and Mercedes. But still amazing.

To the front of the grid almost? Even in winter it is mighty. Look at how everyone spoke of AM at the start and they were still trailing RB.

This is orders of magnitude better and the team have even been surprised.

Peter Prodmorou, you have everyone's thanks.

Merc takes a while to fire up its tyres, so the softs were always going to put them closer, but if the conditions stay like this they won't be a race tyre

Let's wait for the run with fully new softs.
