He was definitely pushing in the final stint, you can even see it in the fuel corrected lap times. Max is not the kind of guy who just sits idle for an entire race, even if he can.
The medium is the faster tyre, so it is not clear that he was pushing. GP actually told him to bring it home and still manage tyres in the high speed corners 4 and 11.
Nah, he did one fast lap and then cruised home. amount of management that was going on in hungary was unreal. There was probably some more laptime in it, but just because management is happening it doesn't mean you can go whole lot faster for long without it. It's there for a reason after all.
Max wouldn't be that complimentary of the car in the final stint if there was an unreal amount of management going on. He did the fastest lap, let the tyres cool off for a few laps, and then gradually began pushing the pace. He was easily half a second faster than Hamilton who himself was half a second faster than anybody else in the final stint. You can see it in the fuel corrected lap times that are 0,5-1s faster than they were in the first two stints.Juzh wrote: ↑26 Jul 2023, 10:29Nah, he did one fast lap and then cruised home. amount of management that was going on in hungary was unreal. Being complimentary about car balance does not mean he was pushing. Marko said there was a lot more in it, GP mentioned to bring it home. There was no reason to fully push the tyres.Cs98 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2023, 10:44Max wouldn't be that complimentary of the car in the final stint if there was an unreal amount of management going on. During the first two stints there was certainly a lot of management hence Marko's comments. But during the last stint it was reduced as they realised deg was lower than expected. Not saying he was on the bleeding edge, but he pushed the car a bit more. Clearly observable in the data.Cassius wrote: ↑26 Jul 2023, 11:32Being complimentary about car balance does not mean he was pushing. He probably had 1 or 2 tenths more in it which meant he was 0.7s faster than Hamilton when they were in free air. Hence Toto's remark about RB being f1 and rest f2.
