Alpine seems to need to run more cooling louvers than Aston Martin.

It does seem they have to open up their bodywork much more than other teams. Is it really the engine?

This could be a function of how much air they want to exit the back center "cannon" which might affect the low pressure under the rear wing main plane. Maybe they want the hot air to exit further forward.

Given multiple photos at Zandvoort show this feature, the geometry from rear view has absolutely changed. To me it seems like the keel has a step yes. The way it's not illuminated by side-on light at a defined line precludes it from smoothly transitioning so it must be stepped imo
