Part of the straight line speed issue was the fact that they could not operate the PU at full power. It's a massive shame what the FIA did in the middle of the season last year.
If they didn't do it midseason it would've been done at the end of the year anyway. And the engine unreliability, crashes and strategy failures had put the title fight already by the summer break, so it's not like we missed out on a chance for Leclerc wdc or Ferrari WCC due to the midseason change

I do agree it was wholly unreasonable for fia to do it, given it was lobbied for by competitor and effected to improve the show (thinking it would bring RB/Ferrari back in line with others) midseason and sets bad precedent, but I don't think it robbed us of a lot.
Ferrari certainly have a laundry list of tidying to do, but at least we could be spared all of the convoluted arguments about how the regulations are a failure because silver is not winning and even if Ferrari had it's flaws, the first half of last season was sufficiently entertaining. If anything, this season shows how important it was for the FIA to leave everything alone because they didn't appreciate how good we had it before. I thought what Ferrari was speculated to have done was quite clever.

They've arbitrarily changed the plank regulations mid-season, while letting front wings continue to flex like Beckham. Then they changed the floor edges and instead of actually giving us something to care about this year, that team then came out and said they "underestimated" it's impact themselves. If you are going to attempt to hobble your rivals , at least have a plan to benefit from that regs change. ffs.

It will take time now to get back to that point of competitiveness.

There was the engine reliability issue and that at the beggining of the season what Ferrari had as medium downforce rear wing was draggier than Red Bull, Ferrari was never draggy compared to Mercedes or some others.

Did the team overreact to this "advantage" Red Bull had (keeping in mind Red Bull had straight line speed, but at that stage Ferrari definitely had braking and cornering advantage)? A little bit in my opinion.

I doubt anyone will catch RB even in the upcoming seasons. The advantage they have now is massive, 2015/2016 Mercedes like.

We need an incredible job by either Ferrari or Mercedes and probably RB --- up something with their next car.

Hope they negotiated something good in exchange. God bless 'em if they didn't get anything good out of this.

Why not? Nobody reads this anyway. :D

Marko is a notorious sh*t talker but I can’t help but feel stressed about this already. Ferrari ALREADY behind with the ‘26 engine regs? HOW? Do they ever learn?? My delusional side tells me THIS HAS TO BE WRONG while my conscious brain that has lived through the last 15 years of pain tells me this sounds right on trend.

When does it end?

How would he even know? Did the teams go and tell Mr. Helmut Marko their numbers?
