Forget the fact that you couldn't foresee a crash and red flag in these conditions which is stupid in itself, but why would you wait for only one hot lap on inters when inters are better on the second flying lap anyway? Even in Q1, they set a much better time compared to others on the 2nd lap.

If anything, Lance even said that it was too early for the slicks but his engineer insisted that he stayed on their program. This one was on Aston Martin.
