Just reign in the expectation.
Mclaren took a huge jump in performance so expect the others to do the same but it might take them smaller steps to get there. Come seasons end Mclaren might be pushed out of the top 10 again. Aston were on the cusp of the top 10 recently but their new floor looks like they have gone back to being 2nd quickest in FP1.
As I said yesterday. It’s just going to ebb and flow.

Does McLaren still have obligations on the young driver FP sessions, or did Oscar’s early season’s FP outings take care of that?
Yes, as far as I understand, Oscar fell under the rules of a young pilot.

Pretty sure they still have to run one in Norris' car tho. Suspect it will be Pato O'Ward at somewhere like COTA or Mexico.

Remember guys that MCL 60 2.0 should have been the launch car,in a perfect world, and we still have a lot of ground to catch up,despite the brilliant from Austria onwards.

That FP1 was entirely unrepresentative. Team was doing constant speed run single laps the whole session and had tons of traffic during their single quick lap runs. NOR had a yellow sector on his fastest lap too

Exactly. Mclaren could end up battling it out with Alpine again for P5 in the constructors.

Quite positive as most of the session looked like data collection / testing... :D :D

Reassuring to hear. Zak Brown also saying FP1 was limited by that data gathering running early on too. Hopefully we get a better picture in FP2 but if not we'll have to see tomorrow!

Not ideal, hope we have plenty of spares of the new rear wing. From first look, rear wing (somewhat damaged), front wing completely gone and front suspension damage. Could be worse, I think the gearbox and rest of the chassis should be alright.

Also looks like it wasn't an inherent car instability issue, Oscar was avoiding a slow car on this inside that may have made him distracted.

As expected the car seems to be on Red Bull level in terms of one lap pace. Our job is to target Red Bull in race pace also while improve that one lap pace more.

Albon, Tsunoda and Gasly in the top 6 in FP2 though. So not sure how truly representative the laptimes are though the Williams looks to have some genuine pace
