Merc had 1 more new set of mediums saved, noone else did.
Seeing as people were able to overtake RB on old hards, not sure if this will work.

Exactly, McLaren had 1 medium and 1 hard - they used both today. So only chance was to go onto softs.

Would have been used softs. They wouldn't have lasted. Equally big gamble, so track position was the better option.

Most teams brought only 1 medium and 1 hard for this race. So they had 15-20 lap old mediums and no hards to change onto. Not sure how many softs they, probably 4 lap old ones from qualyfing.

Not pitting worst case is 4th. Pitting best case 3rd. So, its not all straight forward.
