this is a shadow, not debris. simply a trick on the eyes

It's not a shadow, It's there from lap 2 onwards, I checked  so it must have been from perez-tsunoda clash. Very unlucky. It's flapping around even worse in those early laps.
you're right, lap 2, turn 5 onwards it's there. you said lap 21 before
Funny that it hasn't been reported by anyone else but here and re-edit.

Cherish the podium we have because you are not going to see more for the rest of the year, xD
Agreed
This was an incredible year overall, many podiums, P2 , it was amazing.

It is just sad because I feel it is over and 2024 well, I expect P4 team so just points

Good start as usual on Singapore. Couldn't do much afterwards.

Alpine is P5 and scored podiums.

It was spotted by DC on F1TV, but he wasnt 100% what he actually saw and there was no follow up by anyone after that.

The races where car balance was perfect Fernando was up there so I'm not worried. Main limitation as always is on the factory this season, little upgrades and possibly failed ones. But it's still a team in process of growth and blips like these not only could happen, rather they are guaranteed to happen. Most people underestimate how difficult it all is. So, give them a vote of confidence, if we zoom out and look at the season in a cold way, 7 podiums is ahead of the curve for what was expected last year. We should try to do like Krack and have a more stable baseline throughout the year rather than the rollercoaster of each GP weekend.

Not relevant anyways but Russell was not penalised for the same infraction in Austria.

After rewatching Alonso onboard that could be something in the suspension or it could be a codec artifact caused by too much compression of the video. The codec doesn't know what to with all the shades of grey there.

No, its debris, 100%, no way compression artifacts can cause this

They talked about it on F1TV on the post race show. They said at first they thought it was something stuck there but then they ruled it out.

So what is it then? Cuz its not artifact. Serious question

It looks like a barrier sponsor polymer stuck into suspension, probably picked up when somebody brushed the wall.

Question to those paying more attention than me. I see Lance isn't racing. Would the rules have allowed a reserve driver to race instead and possibly start from the pit lane instead since they missed qualifying?

How come that didn't happen or are my assumptions incorrect?

I believe you need to participate in 1 practice session but exceptions have been granted in the past for experienced drivers. For example, Hulkenberg participated in qualifying only for the British GP in 2020.

It does look like that but could it be hot air coming off the brakes? Remember the rules forbid it going to the outside of the wheel. It would be released around there and move with the steering.

I agree in this in clip it looks like sponsor sticker, but this next clip is from just a minute later, and there's 100% something either broken or wedged in between suspension and/or brake ducts. It's even turning left and right, so it's definitely solid material, probably carbon fibre.

Alonso doesn't mention this at all in his post race interview for f1.com, did the team really not notice whole race long?
