Some Horner comments via AMuS

We know they reverted to old floor spec for Saturday. Horner explains it was to remove a source of error, so Suzuka will probably see the new floors return
they used the old floor spec in the race:

“[the performance deficit] wasn't in the floor, as we now know. We only removed [the new floor] to eliminate a source of error.”

On the topic of RB's cars having a street circuit weakness over the past couple of years:
"It has actually been a very useful lesson for next year, because it gives us some very useful insight and certain things that hopefully we can address in our RB20.”

Just saw an interesting comment on a Youtube Video saying that the up-shifts problems and some down-shift were a code word for understeer and oversteer...Thoughts on this

It’s ultimately going to be very difficult to establish the credibility of a stray YouTube comment.

What’s more likely are actual up shift and downshift issues because they have had them in the past.

Newey mentioned to Pete Windsor humidity and ambiance might have had an effect on upshifts and engine.

BS. The bad shifts were clearly audible/visible on the onboards. Also GP reacted with engine/diff/GB setting changes.

And why would a team use a code for something that is also obvious and clear to see?

And why would the term under- or oversteer be a secret?

In that context it sounded like "ambient" as in base level temperature, as well as humidity, that they thought affected them.

Presumably with very high ambient, then hydraulic system fluid viscosity diminishes if heat accumulation can't be fully mitigated through cooling systems. In effect operating out of range from original design specifications. That could affect the system timing in actuation from operating "calls" to execute on command.

If a car is understeery or oversteery, you talk to your engineers off the track about how to solve that problem. You can't just fix that in the race itself. The only change they can make to a car during the race in that regard is the front wing angle.

Therefore there's no reason to complain about it so much on the radio since you can't do anything about it at any rate, and therefore i call bull on that comment. 😎 8)

Also, there's a reason Max is already up to 5 gearboxes.

Max also went straight through in that one corner where there was asfalt to do it in one of the FPs. That clearly looked like the car being hesitant in downshift.

I would have to imagine they are using a racing grade hydraulic fluid that is very stable in a wide range of operating conditions. My theory is that the humidity affects the control of the engine. The engine is being burped and blipped and other witchcraft during the shifting. If the engine is not responding in time, then it's "collaboration" with the gearbox may be corrupted. I.e there's a torque spike at the wrong time during the shift procedure.

Speaking of coded language, I assume "use your head" is code for imagining that your head is the plank. Oh Max... #-o

Max and Checo both saying the car is suited to Suzuka. If it's not a good weekend, then it's panic stations :D

Only roughly a week more of the team being penalized by the reduction in wind tunnel/CFD time due to the budget cap breach I think.

RB's floor makes it way to rival teams...

Leclerc is not the problem but the limits of the SF-23, which lacks the stability of the aerodynamic platform. For this reason, a new fund will debut in Suzuka, approved before the summer break, after having analyzed the Red Bull one in Monaco.
