Curious though, Charles had the new floor in FP1, Carlos had the new floor in FP2. Looking at just the times, the car with the older floor was ahead in both practices.
they both had it in fp2, in fp1 the delta was mostly on the straights

Tire deg looks trash as expected.

The McLaren on softs had less deg than the Ferraris on mediums.

Not sure what you mean? Leclerc had the new floor in both FPs. FP1 was for aero test pretty much.

Ahhh, makes sense. I thought I misread a quote by Carlos that Charles had it in FP1 while He did for FP2. I assumed each had them independently. Thanks for the clarification.

The monegasque driver adapts:
Asked how he felt with the car by the end of play on Friday, Leclerc replied: “Today was a little bit better. The last two or three races I struggled a little bit with the balance of the car.

“Today I changed a little bit my driving style, went with the car a bit in my direction too and it feels like the feeling is better. Obviously its only one day, so we need to keep pushing, and hopefully do another step forward tomorrow.”

When I hear "adapt" I think "compromise" ... so hopefully they can eventually get both drivers a car they like, although from what I am reading that might be impossible? Quali will be entertaining tomorrow..

We can call it either adaptation or compromise, but figuring out how the drive the car you have been given is always the best approach. Nothing is ever ideal in F1.

I don’t think it’s quite as far off Max as this shows, based at the lap by lap and what you can infer (eg big improvement on last lap before in lap vs penultimate lap) - still clearly a ways away, maybe about half a second. Being faster than the others is very positive on a track like this - that ought to expose Ferrari’s tyre management issues - and the one lap pace is better than I expected.

It totally shows what’s lacking on the car (ie the high speed performance in the esses) but that’s hardly a surprise. Overall the car is better than I expected here and that bodes well for their understanding of it.

Ferrari turned a corner since Spa. A lot of people are just catching up with that fact.

I feel its the second quickest chassis overall this year (consistently thought that too) if they didn't have the dropout in operational effectiveness they've exhibited over various races.

It started quick in first race, then added multiple impediments to running it and well commented on here.

Aggregated, it should finish second in the WCC if they don't drop the ball from here on.

Mercedes Friday to Saturday step has usually been massive. I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes a 3 way fight for P2.

4th place qualifying confirmed. Both MCL and MER have leaped.

That is presumptuous.

Yeah they did fast laps when the track was completely green - it rained heavily last night and reset the conditions. Leclerc then set his fastest lap sometime later and the soft tyres don't really last multiple laps here. So I think there is considerably more to come on 1 lap.
