3rd fastest in equal conditions. Losing too much in S1.

I’ll wait for telemetry.

McLaren and Red Bull have taken a step since fp2 yesterday. We are pretty much where we were yesterday. The delta in S1 is just too big, 0.5s. To be expected when you are the only team still running a flat tunnel floor.

Please I beg someone is competent enough to realize it is not a good idea to stick to it next year.

I think AMR also run this flat floor

Yup, there was no step between FP2&FP3. Even Merc did a good step.

And hows that going for them..

The two cars that go into hiding if the track requires any sort of high speed performance

Mini race sim on softs for Ferrari today:
LEC
LAP 8 S/8 Stint 3.0: 1:36.091
LAP 9 S/9 Stint 3.0: 1:36.342
LAP 10 S/10 Stint 3.0: 1:36.990
LAP 11 S/11 Stint 3.0: 1:37.169
LAP 12 S/12 Stint 3.0: 1:36.804

Not too shabby to be honest.

LEC FP3 (green) v LEC FP2 (red)
Image

* On the onboard I think LEC commented that he doesn't know where to find 0.4s in S1 to NOR, albeit it's really hard to understand what he says exactly.
* Car is a bit better in S1, keeping a bit faster speed but not enough. Got a bit worse in T7 somehow.
* Degner (T9) Tsunoda makes LEC lose 0.1s
* Spoon and hairpin got a little worse, loses from itself from yesterday, just worse corner exit.

VER v LEC
Image

* S1 is just very different, LEC simply slows down more.
* LEC with Tsunoda in T9 loses another little chunk there.
* Out of hairpin traction is fine, these engine and aero combinations are pretty equivalent
* Slide out of spoon for LEC and loses another chunk
* Corner exits from LEC are not as nice as yesterday in S2 and S3.

Distance in quali will be closer but hard to go below 0.5s behind.

NOR v VER
Image

* NOR pays a lot on top speed likely due to a bigger wing on the car
* S1 corners is actually better for NOR but from the end of the straight into spoon till right before the chicane NOR loses 0.2s and then you add another 0.15 from the chicane.

VER v VER
Image

* Max loses in corners against himself yesterday and gains in straights, supporting of the reduced wing on the car.
* Car really is 3-4kph slower in corners. S1 esses and Degner you can see that he simply can't go as fast as before.

Yeah Ferrari has no real chance of front row later, this is a 3rd place 0.5s behind if LEC puts together a miracle.

Everyone loses compared to yesterday in the corners because it rained heavily overnight and the track was green

Nah...

NOR v NOR

Identical in the esses and actually much better in straights and T7.

Because McLaren improved their setup overnight...

Are you aware that maxs best time in fp3 was 3 tenths slower than his fp2 time? You don't have a higher engine mode and end up 3 tenths down without the track changing significantly

VER was preserving in S1, yet is faster than LEC.

What are you talking about man? Max FP3 was 1.30.267 and Max FP2 was 1.30.688. Today Max was 0.4s faster. And the telemetry is there to see why Max was faster, he's better in straights and slower in corners. NOR is same in corners and faster in straights.

Max Degner is slower too and that's a super short 90deg corner, all of this points to less front wing for Max, which actually might have helped the snapping in spoon.

Got those the wrong way around whoops

We're not going to agree. You keep doing your mental gymnastics

We certainly won't agree but you should do the math of what it would take to see a 4kph difference in straight line speed from his engine, just seriously do the math. There's certainly a slightly better acceleration setup from today in Max and likely gains him maybe 0.1s but you don't see it in top speed, you see it at the exit of hairpin.
