Russell needs to ask for Hamilton's set-up. Night and day difference.
Maybe Russell's setup will pay off in the race. Seems like a large deficit (5 tenths) over 1 lap to accept though

With 1 FP session it's possible Mercedes put Hamilton and Russell on different setups, and now they'll converge.

Alpha Tauri did so too, Tost confirmed on German Sky. They were running different downforce levels and ride height. Could very well be the same at Mercedes, yeah

It's one of his best tracks. Even with the rb16b he was on pace with Max over 1 lap at COTA

Horner said the data they have also suggests it's a track that suits him well

Race runs are always difficult to read. Quali sims have less factors to consider.

I pulled the fast laps, it's somewhat different:

The Ferrari did touch 321 and the Merc touched 316. I can't be bothered to regenerate the figure

Yes thanks for doing that. Albano's data just takes the raw highest values

This twitter user has tabulated all of the top speeds from fastest runs:

Merc quite slow on top speed. Could be engine but they're also running a very open engine cover this weekend which could be playing a significant role

Can't say I've ever seen a driver look of far round a corner so early as what Logan Sargeant seems to

Max was all wheels off track there wasn't he into the back straight?

Track evolution is ridiculous here.

Edit: unless you're in a Williams or Aston Martin, then o_o

Looked close but maybe he just barely stayed on.
