FWIW - Charles last 3 quali laps telemetry.
Nice post. Charles was better on lap 20. Higher corner speed apart from thr third from last corner where he came off throttle a little later.
He was braking later in the last laps so his confidence was there.

Do you have Max's?
Learn how to use F1 tempo yourself, it's free. Would be great to have a look first before coming here with your posts about 'qualifying specialists' and how much better(over a lap) than Max all of them are(including Hulkenberg, lol)! =D>

Edit: Compared Norris and Lewis. It looks like Lewis' tyres were gone at the end of the lap. https://ibb.co/JH1QT0D

Could be just overdriving. He lost around 0.2s in that sequence between T15-T19 to his own previous best run (1st run in Q3).

Max being Max tried to put a car on Pole, not having pace in the car for pole on merit. He was particularly remarkable in that T19, that costed him dear ultimately. Looking at his best three laps. he was gradually pushing the limit there by going faster and faster and playing with the track limit. He was not only a lot faster than the rest, he was also a lot faster than Perez in the same car in that corner. Had he driven as safely(in terms of track limits) in T19 as the rest, Pole was without reach for sure, irrespective of his T1. and even with the ideal lap, he had to rely on Charles and Lando's mistakes(which they all did) to have a chance.
No Idea why red bull had to raise their cars so high compared with the others, but hopefully that wasn't a mistake like Brazil last year. Otherwise it's gonna be long and tough weekend for them with Mercedes(Hamilton) winning on Sunday.

New side by side animations are pretty cool from Sky. Just shown the different lines of Lando and Norris.

So what, he isn't wrong. Max doesn't do well when he feels pressured.

Imo, a lot of that stems from the abuse he suffered at the hands of his father as a kid!

Max: “I knew turn 19 was going to be tricky. I made a small mistake in turn one, so I had to really push the rest of the lap.
The margins are small. I didn’t even have understeer, I just tried to maximise the corner, but misjudged it slightly.
It was a bit unfortunate, but it will make Sunday’s race more interesting.”

I think Juzh was being sarcastic with that comment again.

Lets be brutally honest. That qualifying track limit was probably 1 of a few mistakes Max has made all season - especially when its mattered.

I bet you wont find another driver on the grid who's made less mistakes.

Round 2. ding ding ding.

Lets see if we get some perfect laps this time round so we can debunk the laps a bit more.

Expecting the same, but Max P1 or P2.

It's crazy how close the margins are. P2 to P7 currently separated by 0.1s.
