I wonder how the pace would look for Aston compared to the other 8 teams if they had a second chance to set up their car as well
Agreed, the other teams definitely would be much quicker too using the sprint data

Alonso and Stroll were extremely close in terms of pace, if anything stroll was even a smidgen faster (like a tenth), so upgrade definitely works.
On lap 30 they are 10.1s apart in P10 for ALO and P11 for STR and stroll has 1 lap fresher mediums, on lap 41 they are 8.6s apart, then stroll pits.

Haas changed their setup aswell and they were still slow. And it is much harder to setup a car with a lot of upgrades.

If Stroll can make it from a pitlane start to points, Alonso might kill it with the new package. Let's see.
Why? What's the point? I mean if Alonso dont have to retire, then would finish way ahead of Stroll with the old package.
OMG! On the old package, Alo wud finish 5/6 or on Podium, and Stroll would finish out of points. Her with new package, Stroll scored points without safety car or any other help.
But I also feel that this was an Aston Martin track, and had they not experimented, a podium or a near podium would have been possible.

I'm Alonso's first fan, but in my opinion with the new update he would have kept pace with Ferrari no further. I still see Mercedes, McLaren and RB as far away

Don't forget, they'll learn from this and tweak the setup more and get more out of it. Also, Alonso went Med, Med, Hard.... Stroll went Hard, Med, Med.....So Alonso had a tire edge up until the 3ird stint. You need to calculate that into which package was faster.

I just watched the race before reading anything else and I thought I saw Stroll going faster than usual which surprised me. After having learned that Alo ran with the old car while Stroll had the Austin parts, it makes much more sense and likely means the updates are working, I told you to be patient. In any case now they have lots of data to work with.

Good race from Stroll and Fernando, especially Fernando with the old car was likely to have finished between 6th or 7th before the retirement. In the end, six points for the team which means this was actually a better race than Hungary, Italy, Singapore and Japan.

Pace looked extremely promising. Rollercoaster of emotions following the team the last few weeks

Which is why its helpful to maintain a stable mental baseline rather than going with the tide on each up and down or you'll end up going crazy, some were about to throw Dan Fallows overboard to the sharks this week, please calm down. We're all on the same ship.

With Blandin saying "the updates will give more performance but also a more predictable car", if that's the case then we can expect Lance to be at a similar level as he was early in the season, the car should be more suitable for him. Maybe he proves be wrong but I don't count on him getting eliminated in Q1 in Mexico. He should be more inside the one to three tenths gap to Alonso as he was back then.
