Aston Martin AMR23

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

more like devolution since their car is getting slower and slower vs everyone else.

Considering their new package is moving towards what everyone else in the field is running, most likely it is not a devolution

While they are seemingly moving towards the other top teams with floor edge design, neither RedBull, McLaren, Mercedes or Ferrari have the cutout at the back of the floor edge that Aston is still running since the start of the season, with some modifications in between. If I'm not mistaken it was more common before but teams have generally moved away from it? (not entirely sure). Can we expect further changes in that area or is this an overly general assumption?

That's some new cooling, but how come it didn't appear in the FIA update list? Did they bring it to a previous race?

Edit: they already brought it to Miami.

"The single-seater regulations for the 2024 season will be almost identical to this season. If the years start in correlation to the overall performance of the cars that finished the previous year, the picture looks worse than bad... unless something happens that some suspect. The green team underwent a huge transformation in the summer of 2022. A lot of technicians came in from other formations that have helped this year's initial success. The suspicion is that they put some of themselves into it, but most of their time, effort and ingenuity should be poured not into a car conceptually delivered by others, but into the next car, that is, the one for 2024."

"It is common for new design teams to draw the more distant future rather than the present, especially when the current project is already underway. No one knows what might happen in 2024 and whether Aston Martin will follow this pattern, but it would not be surprising if the overall concept of the AMR24 is different from today's. No one knows if it will be better or worse. Whether it will be better or worse is anyone's guess, but it is very likely to be different."

Lance, ato Mexico race, seems to have run the new sidepods with the old floor sides. Didn't even know they could do that.
