That's the lure of limelight and money. It won't be any different for Max either. Nobody would pay 50 million a year for someone that is retired. It's too much money even for most successful sportspersons to be left on the table. :D

Everyone on softs except Sargeant

Stroll/Leclerc on fresh soft, Max on 3 lap old used softs

many teams are starting on used softs, despite having a new set as well. So looks very likely it'll be a race with two stints on the soft tire.
