Sainz said that the 2024 car handling is quite different from the SF 23 in the simulator.
Many good things were said about the SF23 last winter also, better be careful with that kind of statement.
Ths time it isn't journalists saying the car is 1s faster, it's Sainz telling us the handling characteristics are different, that's quite a bit more privileged info.

It has already happened in their time as teammates and didn't seem to affect his stock. Ridiculously bad luck and team screwing him over on strategy as usual has plagued his year

But give credit to sainz he has the only non redbull win this season by merit

I remember very vividly winter testing 2019 when Seb said it was the best winter he ever had in F1, everyone was so bullish, then disaster struck 🤷🏼‍♂️
All I'm saying, keep our hopes and dreams very low until the first quali session.

Not entirely his own win, Leclerc helped a lot in the first stint and then by holding up Mercedes' a bit in the second. Mercedes made sure Max won last weekend (but still got kicked in the race for WCC P2), otherwise both Ferrari drivers would have won a race this season.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

The saying goes keep your feet on the ground; I’m cementing mine into the pavement. As mentioned, all the positives were heard about 2023 and then we endure the season we just did. Thankfully we’ve managed to recover somewhat performance wise, but even with a better car, the pit-wall/strategy calls are still well below par.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if we start as the 3rd/4th best car next season behind Red Bull, McLaren and/or Mercedes… but hopefully we can operationally be a better team with decent strategy calls, more consistent car performance and reliability. As of the events of Austin and Vegas strategy, this still has yet to improve much at all…

Guys, Sainz didn't say the car is 10 times better, but that the handling is different. Just wanted to report that statement.

One thing that Ferrari has done through the season is how to approach a stint in race trim. Knowing that the car has very high deg, they started to manage the tyres in the very first few laps of the stint. This, on top of the upgrades and setup knowledge, improved the situation quite a bit.

Even in Vegas Leclerc both in the first and second stint was very conservative in the first few laps.

In any case, hopefully they've set their marks high enough for 2024, some teams set their marks way too low as recently as the start of this season. They need to be basically 1s a lap faster in race trim than they are now, at the end of the season, if they want to fight with RB20. And who knows how much more will be needed to beat it... Very steep mountain to climb, for any team.

And of course, the car is just one part of it. The strategy blunders of last year did not stop and if they keep doing that they can have the most dominant car ever and still lose the Championship. Vasseur addressed a few areas where the team was weak during 2023 and some improvements were clear. It remains to be seen if they understand how big of an issue strategy was, as well as some aspects of on-track operations.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

I used Firefox built in screenshots and copied it on Twitter DMs.
You can check the telemetry on F1 - Tempo. Robert uses more throttle in the corners. Sainz pretty much 0.

Robert gets to 100% exponentially quicker, to me it is down to fuel loads. The difference is too stark to be representitive although we always see the bigger lifts from Sainz.

The pattern (throttle use) is similar even in the high fuel load run.

Did robert do high fuel runs?
