Inverse DRS

What about...

1. Active suspension allowed
2. Minimum plank height increased
3. When chasing a car, you can activate "smart suspension", then ride height is reduced to optimal point at corners to increase grip and compensate dirty air, but also increased at straights to reduce drag and increase slipstream effect

This would cause more natural passing, as cars could compete on track and would not need a huge advantage at straights, like currently, wich makes it artificial and boring

Anyone recall the last iteration of active suspension chassis....with Adrian Newey on the design team ?

Most of the teams currently can't even get conventional suspension to work in consistent competitive sphere. Add in two or more aero adapted specification for alternative ride height.....can't see that being complex at all.

It'll just separate those that can further from those that can't understand even the current rules set, and interpret it effectively.

Just get rid of DRS altogether. It's always been a complete gimmick and ruined F1 for me personally. There were times when drivers would need to use actual skill to overtake instead of breezing past on the straight. Even with zero overtaking, a highly tactical pitstop race is still better than 100 snoozy DRS overtakes.

That´s exactly the purpose of F1. Isn´t it?

If that´s a problem, then we can always modify F1 to be a spec series, so engineering is not a part of F1 anymore

Problem is F1 has always been a competition of teams, manufacturers and engineers, even more than drivers. We fans always tend to think drivers should be the only factor, but reality is different, F1 is more of an engineering competition than anything else :wink:

The new 2026 formula will use DRS or active aero for the cars to reduce drag and fuel consumption for every lap.

How about the following car to activate this a little earlier than normal? Now the following car can already catch up and gain some extra speed at the beginning of the straight, giving a more interesting battle at the end.
