Allison here seems to be saying that there's plenty of development left in these cars, which is interesting as merc believed there wasnt much left with their old concept, and that people will go down similar paths but there's still room for innovation.

Didn’t he say in a quoted interview couple posts/links up that they were at the ceiling for development?

Didn’t he say in a quoted interview couple posts/links up that they were at the ceiling for development?
I believe he was just saying there's a clearer limit to what these cars can achieve as apposed to the old regs, not that they themselves hit a ceiling with their car

Everything has been super clear to Mercedes in the last 2 years... :lol:

Well, at the end of the day we'll see what happens on the track. Speculations about upper limits won't win any championships.
tbf they seemed to have fixed their correlation issues at least when it came to their upgrades as they all did as expected, unlike a team like AM, and its a new concept with a different TD. But agreed, still have to wait until the cars hit the track in Bahrain

Where they had correlation issues? I mean what was the problem exactly? For me is a bit strange ,that both team had problem and both team used the same wind tunnel and both team just at end of the season recovered from problems. Jahhh and both team talking about big jump at 2024.

So turning up to 2023 with one of the weakest rear axles on the grid and the balance of a bucking horse was deliberate?

There were differences between what they saw on their simulator and what happened in reality throughout the season as well with a lot of difficulty finding and then improving upon setups throughout the season. How many times did the setup seem to get worse friday-> Saturday for instance? This is a correlation issue between the simulator and reality

Okay that explains it then. It was weird Merc were the only ones who thought the ceiling was close, my bad.

Fascinated to see how James Allison and the team approach things this season and what they come up with.

Think it’s the real interesting element of pre season.

Was it Allison who was the lead at Ferrari when they began their competitive resurgence in the hybrid era circa 2016?

Team principal Toto Wolff told Telegraph Sport in a recent interview that simulator driver Ant Davidson had reported favourably on the feel of the new machine. “He was driving Melbourne [in the sim],” Wolff said. “And he said: ‘The car feels like a car for the first time in two years…”

Hamilton will find out for himself soon enough as he will be back in the factory this week ahead of the launch. Pre-season testing takes place in Bahrain from February 21-23 before the first race, also in Bahrain, on March 2.
