You haven't actually read the statement have you? Because that's not what it says at all
I have 'it would look differently on an application" for 2028 alongside General Motors'. That's the condition for Andretti to get a spot on the grid, it has to be with GM. Maybe it's F1 calling Andretti's bluff. Liberty would love to have GM enter into F1. As it opens a whole slew of marketing opportunities to increase the growth of F1 in the US. Which is one of the world's biggest sporting markets. It's all about the profits with Liberty, not the sport. Otherwise, we'd not be seeing so many new street circuits on the calendar.
But it's not about 'greed' or 'not wanting Andretti' as your post stated. It's about mitigating risk of their alleged engine supplier not turning up, pulling out or being unable to deliver the goods when promised.

The point of them saying that if GM were also committing to providing engines for 2025, they'd have paid more credence to the partnership. It's a valid concern.

F1 is interested in making money. If they have said no to a potential massive foot into the American market through Andretti, they have good reason to do so. F1 doesn't give 2 sausages about the existing teams, all of who (well, minus Merc and maybe 1 or 2 more) make losses in the millions every year and F1 are throwing more and more races at. Something no team is happy about given the strain it has on finances and personnel. F1 is not about the money for the teams racing.

I'm glad F1 are doing the due diligence for this, the last thing we need is another HAAS. American or not, no one is interested in watching two Andretti cars running around 2s off the pack.
Why on earth would any manufacturer agree to supply a new engine for a single season and then supply another new engine under different regulations? That would be insane.

The Barcelona circuit reveals a future VIP building near turn 10 among other planned changes. It was devised before the Madrid announcement.

Apparently they are sure of a renewal, so two gp's in Spain is a possibility like the Valencia years.

Isn't it required that the PU supplier with the least number of cars on the grid supply a new team? It's one of the gripes listed in the FOM announcement and a legitimate concern when Alpine/Renault may already be the most tenuous supplier at the moment.

how is this vip building good enough to lure in a contract extension? this only benefits the rich and wealthy but does nothing for the rest of the circuit.

F1 is after these VIP experiences which the Barcelona circuit lacked compared to others.

Great news!

Australia will kick off the 2025 season & first race of the Hamilton-Scuderia Ferrari era

This is likely due to clashes between the typical season beginning dates and Ramadan next year (Feb 29-March 28) so I expect the middle eastern races of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia are being rescheduled for later in the year

Official @ausgrandprix account announced it on twitter but now deleted...

Glad to know that they are keeping the race at Suzuka and not having a street race in downtown Tokyo.

Back to 4 engines is good imo

Big crash in sprint means you're probably out of qualifying. Which seems good to me

Brilliant. 1 out of 3..

Sprint before and on the same day as main event qualifying. Yeah.. people will race hard, for sure. Nah, not really. There is to much risk not being able to qualify for the main event and --- yourself for it. Wasnt this an argument when the sprint got introduced for the first time? And hence why they decided to move it around?

Although its a change, its equally as ---. Well, maybe a little better. Because now the main event qualifying is on Saturday and I can just ignore Friday evening and Saturday morning, when the sprint is on and pretend to have a "normal" race weekend.

The idea of one practice session during sprint races is laughable. Hopefully its made into two hours AT LEAST. Otherwise it creates to much randomness in my opinion. The randomness should be because of Mother Earth, in terms of rain and what have you. Artificially doing something is so bad.

Also, remove DRS. It very rarely works as intended. Better to not have it at all. Who even gets excited by a DRS pass where the defender didnt stand a chance?

The 4 engine chance is good though. Creds on that.

The sprint should replace Q1.
