Red Bull RB20

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I actually thought the little tag said "Remove before fun" :)

Even if this the real (which I doubt) layout of the intakes it`s far away from what Merc brought. The car still has wide sidepods with an undercut, water slide. I just don`t see how the airflow would get to the rads efficiantly!

Seems like they are indeed vertical inlets, Tobi Gruner has a pic showing them as well

Yes this is it

if you scroll down you can see an animation without intakes like on the pictures here and if you scroll down a bit more you can see W15 style intakes on the sidepods

https://www.redbullracing.com/int-en/
If you play with the 360 degree view, you can see that there is no vertical inlet, just a small step and structural change in the monocoque.
And you can see the air inlets exactly where they make sense: on the front of the side pods, narrow and high up.
So, no W15 style visible.
You can see it nicely in the AR mode for what it's worth

There they are... if the model is correct...
Actually you can modify the renderer.
1. visit the page: https://www.redbullracing.com/int-en/cars/rb20/
2. hit F12
3. find the <model-viewer html element (or search for min-camera-orbit=)
4. change its value to min-camera-orbit="auto 124deg 28deg"
5. you can now see under the car

The problem is there are two different inlet styles showing. We are none the wiser.

The floor is completely fake on the render. Why believe anything?

an there you are thats the inlet it just makes the most sense. that vertical slot could be an s-duct but i dont see how it would be big enough to provide suffecent cooling

It's much easier to "fake" a cgi model than the real deal

Where is the outlet of the s-duct?

If non-representative, it would not be the first time they do, essentially, a livery reveal--in '22 the reveal consisted something resembling a standard FIA '22 concept model with RB livery. This time around there is correlation to photographs so I wouldn't rule it out as at least partly authentic, which is pretty common across all teams pre-season.

In which case, they could have a faucet shaped inlet. See below.

Edit: looks like levidrugi beat me to the punch by a few minutes.

The floor edge is creating the illusion of a lower lip from this angle. It is not like the W15

I don't get why they'd put fake inlets on the 3D model if they could just pretend there's no inlets like on the launch renders.
