Aston Martin AMR24

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Has Aston changed or dropped that rear wing side detail added last year? I think it should be seen from this angle but that is not the case

Is just a base car for their AMR24. We can't see a lot of small wings and their real "package". I think till test or even till the first race we should talk about only what we see and what we didn't.
It is clear that Aston wants to reduce drag, so I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being a real thing (no winglets), but you are correct we have to wait to find out for sure.

A small winglet under the rear crash structure might make a big comeback in 2024

We all know that this idea didn't last long last year, but looks like they saw potential in it to keep developing.

What's going on here? Lots of outwash potential here?

Also just noticed that the upper control arms seem to sweep forwards going out to the wheels here, like on the RB20 (also the AMR23, but maybe more now).

Aston, I don't know about you, but to me it gives the impression of a very tidy car. It doesn't have strange but very precise shapes, or particular solutions like the ducts that other cars have. Isn't that disadvantageous?

To me it seems like the launch spec AMR24 is an evolution of the AMR23 and the RB19, the question is how much more McLaren and RB has done to their cars when the season starts. Will be interesting to see, but I have a feeling that RB and MCL have some more up their sleeves. But maybe AMR has some tricks up their sleeve too. Time will tell.

sorry if it's posted before, I haven't seen it so far on the forum...

They made them blur out the diffusor, they're probably cooking something there...

Cannot wait for the tests! :D

Does it have something to do with mercedes's gearbox and suspension ? They didn't allow any customer to show the back of the car

Nice catch! It will be interesting to see how they manage that winglet with the stops, last year despite new equipment it just wasn't possible. They've hired a pit gear designer from Red Bull, maybe that will help. It also looks smaller than last year.

Right before the blur.
There's some kind of detail on the upper outboard corner of the diffuser

They could have brought back that small winglet on top of the rain light housing. They tried it last year and it was promising but it got ripped off during pit stops.

It will have the benefit of creating downforce for the first stint and then shedding weight for the rest of the race.

2024 winglet looks smaller than last year, probably to cause less issues with pit stops (maybe?)
