A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

What is interesting to me is Merc could easily turn the current radiator inlet into a RB19 or Aston style but they haven't. Clearly they must of ran this concept in development cycle. I think we will see this inlet developed quickly into first half of the year as what we are seeing to coin the phrase they used last year is "a new baseline".

The floor inlet certainly has more volume that last year judging by the difference in height compared to the bargeboard upper edge and the SIPS bulge you pointed out.

Can see it in this image as well.

Yeah I know, I'm just pointing out the height of the floor has also increased forward of the SIPS compared to last year.

Is the inlet slanted upwards from the chassis here? Or is the teal strip playing tricks on my eyes?

Ok I think it's the angle and the teal strip making it look that way.

Why on earth would they run something that is outright illegal in testing?
