Hopefully the gap is around 0.3s and not 0.5s

I also think that Ferrari want to temper expectations as much as possible after last year.

They need to fast track the parts in wind tunnel to next weekend if after day 3 they feel they have a good understanding of the car. Atleast get cheap 3d printed parts to run in testing. Need to take jumps not steps.

Yep, I feel the same way. Anyway, there’s only a week left to be waiting.

Marko says 3 tenths.
Ferrari says 5 tenths.

If you average it you get 4 tenths. Not great, but not terrible either.

More or less what i expected.

0.5s would be a decent job
0.3s would be a very good job

Again, people created insane false narratives last year, making up that RB had a small advantage and multiple other bullshit. No they had a colossal advantage (RB19 is one of the most dominant car ever made with pretty much no weaknesses relatively to the competition) so being "only" 0.3s behind in 2024 would have been a huge undertaking.

In any event, i watched the live. The info doesn't come "directly" from Formula.uno, but a source within the paddock told them that.

Also, if the gap is indeed 0.5s highly likely that RB will win again more than 20 races with minimal effort. It would be a disaster for F1.

“In terms of driveability, the car is a lot better compared to last year,” he said.

That's a big endorsement right there.
Is it?

Both drivers said last year's car was an absolutely evil car to drive at times.
This one being "predictable" is a step in the right direction, once they figure out where they lose time they can begin to address it and it's highly likely that it makes it easier for drivers to administer the tires during a race.

An unpredictable car that understeer in a certain corner but oversteer in another is hard to fix, you can't simply crank up more front wing to cure the understeer because it will make the corners where it oversteers extra hard.

That and the fact that last season Ferrari had to deal with a chassis that wasn't perfectly suited for the upgrades they were bringing.
I know. I've said that elsewhere in this thread.

My point is, its a good sign. But big endorsement? Overstating things.

Very positive day. Ferrari was once again attacked by a manhole, but ultimately seems like they won this fight.
Also, apparently a Mercedes loosened it before it was struck by Leclerc. Vanja...

Charles view of the current pecking order and Ferrari's perspectives.
I think he's more or less correct.

Am I misunderstanding something here?

Is 'the car is a lot better to drive this year' not a better comment than 'the car is evil to drive at times'?

Somebody explain to me what the argument is here.

I think what he means is that having a better handling car compared to the last years one, which was known to be pretty nasty, is not saying much/not an achievement.

Call me negative or whatever you want. As it looks like RB is going to have yet another dominant season, 4th title for max. After 3rd year of these speculations ferrari are nowhere near RB.

The issue i have is i see teams like AM & Meclaren copying / following RBs car and instantly jumping from bottom 5 to least top 8. Look at the swing. Had Ferrari gone the same way i feel they would have been in better position or even leading the RB. I know it’s easy to say copy but if others can do it so can Ferrari. These ground effects cars have certain way of getting the maximum performance, RB & Newey have nailed it. Sad part is Ferrari will try every other option except that.

But what can i say im not even a real fan 😂

What’s the lineup for tomorrow? Is Carlos doing the morning run and Charles afternoon?

I guess they changed the driver order because every other outlet is reporting the other way around....

I don't think those outlets were ever correct because Leclerc never got a chance to drive in the evening session when the GP and qualifying is held. Leclerc drove in the morning on Wednesday and Thursday. It makes sense that they are switching for Friday.
