I think if Ferrari are within 3/10s then that’s should be viewed as a result to be honest. Perez wasn’t competitive in the RB19 so I think he can be attacked.

It’s really down to how the development cycle goes this season, how much will RB bring to Japan? What has Ferrari and the others got in the pipe to close the gap.

The reality probably is if the current gap is 3/10 then they need to assume a 2/10 improvement from Japan for RB and that means finding half a second again which is massive.

This probably sounds like negativity, but I’m actually really pleased with what the team have done, and it was always going to be hard to recover such a deficit.

What will be important to see is if Ferrari now can do healthy in season development. If they can improve in season, they can be closer in WCC. Leclerc & Sainz are way more consistent than Perez. I read somewhere the next upgrade parts are already in wind tunnel. So hoping they are aggressive with the development.

With this car I don't see why not. The Japan package is ready and the car is stable and consistent. They need more downforce asap as I feel even though the car is very quick at Bahrain, it could be exposed at for instance Australia

If Ferrari is 0.3s behind Max and RB with Charles then it would be a very good result yeah

Donadoni is saying Leclerc and Sainz had very different setups:
Positive tests for Ferrari. In Maranello they preach calm but admit that the SF-24 is an excellent base. Sainz and Leclerc in Sim race with very different setups.

Yes, it looked like both were pushing, but cars were different and likely had different targets. Sainz going conservative for a long-run stint assessments and Leclerc going full attack in each.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

If they play it right Ferrari can win the WCC, Perez is going to be slower than Ferrari and challenged by mercedes

Bodes well. Means that the car has wide operating window.

As I said every report has different information, which means that the situation (minus the fact that RB is the quickest car) is not clear, especially the real gaps.
If Marko says 3 tenths then I'm inclined to believe the gap is maybe 5 tenths or more. He will obviously lie to make Red Bull's advantage seem smaller than it is

Marko has never done this though. He has always been extremely bullish.

They also claim Max did his race run with 85 Kg of Fuel but Charles started with 100 Kg.

15 KG of fuel is worth 0.5s according to them and should be more deg, makes the race sims more interesting

Off to a good start. That's all you can ask coming out of testing really.

Seen some graphics on X suggesting car 3/10s off in quali spec, with MB far behind, but in race trim .5 behind RB with MB .45 behind RB. Again I take all these with a pinch of salt and they are circuit specific, but the graphics suggested the gap behind MB and Ferrari was quite large, so it could get tasty in the races if the stats are to be believed or come true.

Yeah I don’t really believe the race pace numbers with Merc being ahead of Ferrari. I can’t find conclusive data where they are getting the number from.

Eh, Marko has generally just been 'spouts whatever'. He's like a paddock troll, and you shouldn't read into anything he says either which way.

Also, we were three tenths off Red Bull last year at Bahrain, too. As we all know, we need to close the gap in race pace far more than in qualifying. But we also need to see what the actual situation looks like, as these are not the same cars as last year and a number of teams have made reasonably significant changes. We'll have to figure out what we're chasing as things go along.
