Overall a very positive 3 days of testing for Ferrari. Both one lap and race pace looked fairly competitive. The last time the car was so well balanced was in 2017 testing.

It’s details like how effortless Sainz did his fastest lap of 1:29.9 which make it safe to say that this car is a pretty solid starting point.
Also I’d like to address one particular thing in that lap and it was the minimum speed of Sainz in the last corner (Juzh mentioned it yesterday). Comparing it to the pole lap of Hamilton in 2020 Sainz was 7 km/h faster (136 km/h). To have another reference point Max had a minimum speed of 127 km/h with the RB19 in his pole lap. Now I know Max was on C3 and Sainz on C4, but it also needs to be said that it was pole lap vs. testing.
Generally speaking the SF-24 was the class of the field in S3. This alone shows that it preserved the tyres well over a full push lap distance which is not a given in Bahrain.

Regarding race pace the step which seems to have been made is even more impressive in my opinion.

RedBull probably is still too far away, but I’m happy that Ferrari finally in this ruleset (after TD39) have a car which they can completely focus on developing.

Judging by the reports, this car has better race pace than one-lap pace. RB20 obviously has performance advantage, so I'm betting on Max-Charles first row.

PS: Since youtube doesn't play nice those are Carlos and Charles' laps from days 2 and 3.

A couple of comments:
Ferrari seems to have the "scrape the floor but don't bounce" figured out.
Good rebound over bumps too, it takes the hit but straightens itself out quickly.
Much better in all aspects, at the same time more front grip mid corner and more stable.

Effortles → precisely the word I would have said 👌

I don't think that analysis by mark Hughes is very solid. He claims Alonso and Max were on race sims and uses them as such but we know that's not true

Also puts McLaren behind Williams on race pace.. come on

You will need Logan Sargeant to drive a McLaren for that to happen

Well of course they aren't, McL is better, but if you look at the race sims done simultaneously, Piastri's first stint average was 38.58, Albon's 38.47. Leclerc 37.88, Hulk 38.87.
At least you can see where he's coming from.

#Ferrari: drivers set 4/5 wins (each) as a realistic goal during the 2024 world championship. #Mercedes ditto. #McLaren will settle for 2 in total. So 20/22 races would be 'already allocated'. Doing the maths, in practice poor #RedBull is left with the crumbs. Poor Austrian team, this year they will have to suffer.

To be honest, the long runs were all over the place for some teams, with McLaren varying so much, it's almost impossible to pick which run is representative and which is not.

If you look at a different stint for example :

They are not looking bad at all, and a 0.5s deficit to Max doesn't seem that unrealistic (Leclerc started this run on used C3s I believe, hence the dropoff). Especially since this is Oscar running and he did have that slight deficit on Lando come race day (0.1-0.2s on a good day).

One of the worst comparison i've ever seen :D

In any event according to Stell McL is behind RB and Ferrari in Bahrain.
