RB20 +10kph through 5-6-7 despite being on harder tires

LEC tried to match it but car said not this time

More here:
Outside the fact that we don't know fuel loads, it seems that the car is not the best in these kinds of corners. Very early to tell and a lot of room for improvements.

Really? Can you provide 2 examples of when he's done that?
SF16H presentation, for example, him going on about how bold the car was. But the car was pretty conventional compared to the RB12 (other than the gearbox design that caused many issues later in the season) and the W07.

Or him going on about "it'll become apparent in due time [what we spent our development token with W12]" that ended up being a nothingburger.

IIRC, the token spend on the W12 was in relation to a new node which ended up not passing crash test. At least that was the rumor at the time.

It’s from post day-1 interview, so basically obsolete information.

Not to mention that I wouldn’t put much stock into what’s coming out Marko's mouth when it comes to competitor’s cars.

Looking at the speed traps, it’s hard to believe that Ferrari used low engine mode. Can someone more knowledgeable weight in on what this person is talking?

He has a history of being very precise with the observation of the onboards in general, including Ferrari.

What he says should be true, it’s sufficient to know where to look on the steering wheel and the PU mode will be clear.

It’s not out of possibility that RBR may have been even more conservative.

Most of the media suggest that Merc are ahead of Ferrari in race trim, btw.
I believe that's as a result of Mercedes' own opinion

Allison stating that they believe they are ahead on race runs is not an insignificant data point. It's like Cardile saying the same: you'd believe that, no? Nobody at Ferrari has said we are 2nd fastest; at mercedes they've implied it at least over a race distance

Anyway. All I'm saying is that I can understand why the media have this impression. A lot of the voices you will hear from the media are in the paddock and are tapped into the moods in various camps and have friends in many teams
Some local F1 youtubers are also act as if they know the entire outcome even before the season starts

These aren't mutually exclusive. Just because Ferrari had higher speedtrap speed than RB does not mean that they used highest possible setting, just higher than RB did.

RB is clearly using a very conservative ers mapping. There is evidence of clipping at the end of some of the straights. There is actually not a huge chunk of time gained at the end of the straights compared to acceleration zones at corner exit, but still, it's significant enough to point out.
