Merc finished 50s off Max last year. As it stands they are 35s behind this year.

At this pace, RUS will likely finish 45s behind, and that's with VER having managed pace all race long.

Incredibly poor performance from Sergeant also. What are they doing with him in the car again this season

Verstappen did a 32.6 on his softs, and is now farting around on mid 34s.
He needed a lap in the 36s and then a few in 35 to cool down the tyres, his steering wheel was all red. silly pirellis.
Let us pray that the first big update solves that for them!

Progress 😂 Should only be 20s off in 25’

All in all, thoroughly depressing. Like watching paint dry. Well done Max 4x WDC.

I think the pecking order for this race is RB, Ferrari, Merc, McLaren, Aston. Last year it was RB, Aston, Ferrari (maybe Lec gets P3 unsure), Merc, Sauber

Why give a track limits warning when the off has lost the driver nearly 1 sec. It’s not a track limits violation it’s a mistake and an off.

I think the qualifying session really hyped up this race.

Honestly this is slightly depressing as a fan of the sport, we've had periods of dominance in basically every era but the gap between team mates is crazy. The whole thing is wrong right now, huge heavy cars and all the management that comes with it, artifical racing that can't be fixed, and just to rub the salt in the cars aren't even exciting to watch! remember when alonso did some laps in the R25 at abu dhabi, simply watching that car gave me goosebumps, especially how lively it was. so to summarise, the cars are; too heavy, too large, too complex and boring to watch race. The 2026 cars are still not enough, and even more artifical due to the active aero. I'm not saying "bring back the v10s" but I'd ditch the hybrid entirely, move to synthetics, drop the weight as much as possible and bring back inwashing front wings.

The gaps are roughly the same as Abu Dhabi 2023
Maybe watch the laptimes a bit better. Max is easily a second per lap faster than everyone else. They have increased the gap

A repeat of 2023. RB will focus on 2025 as early as possible while others try to close the gap / understand their own car / understand the RB concept in 2024.

Can we have a couple of new teams please… At least that might add some interest and the new drivers could shake things up. The driver roster is as stale as the teams line up.
