Meanwhile, some English media are reporting that Jos Verstappen is no longer allowed to attend the races after the Bahrain incident. Alone: The former Formula 1 driver and ex-teammate of Michael Schumacher knows nothing about this. Jos Verstappen to F1 Insider: “I drive rallies in Europe. That's why I won't be there in Saudi Arabia or the following races. That’s been clear for a long time.”

It seems clear: The Thais, who continue to stand behind Horner despite all the accusations, seem ready to let their superstar go. They believe that design genius Adrian Newey is more important for success than the super talent from the Netherlands - and they believe they can keep him. The British mastermind is supposed to build winning cars for the Australian Oscar Piastri and the Thai-British Alexander Albon in the future - that's the plan if Verstappen leaves.

Problem: Both Piastri and Albon still have contracts with McLaren and Williams respectively in 2025. But the Thais believe they can solve the problem with money. Piastri also helps: he is looked after by ex-Red Bull driver Mark Webber. The Australian is considered a friend and close confidant of Christian Horner.
Oooh, well Jos is suddenly doing rallies! Is Helmut there this weekend?

Albon back to Red Bull makes perfect sense doesn't it. Choosing Adrian over Max makes sense. Max choosing to leave doesn't make sense, to me. He might threaten and posture a bit.

F1-insider I think was just reporting a fake story of the accuser being sacked.

Suddenly? If you by suddenly mean he has been doing so for the last two years then yes, suddenly.

kediown, protip, if a sentence starts with, "Meanwhile, some media are reporting that..." you need to be skeptical of what follows.

He wasn't part of the original list of participants or something someone told here. So it is not exactly far fetched that it is not a coincidence that he is rallying now given his recent comments and how RBR responded.

These are rumours, always being skeptical of them no matter the source. But this is pretty spicy :D

They aren't wrong. Objectively, the only irreplaceables are indeed Adrian Newey and Christian Horner. RB can still survive, thrive, and dominate if everyone else was terminated and replaced. RB with those two can make Logan Sargant a World Champion. No question about it.

Take the report with an obvious grain of salt. But if you for a moment take it as being accurate having the core of your design team I would say would be more important than any driver. The caution maybe the engine rules in 2026 and if RBPT makes a mistep; history has shown that can hamstring even the best designed car concept pretty badly too.

As for contracts. As with Lewis quite possible they have out clauses - i'd imagine Norris in particular signs with McLaren but if a seat at top team opened up or if the team doesn't meet certain goals etc.

I don't know what to make of this. One aspect I liked about VER was his complete lack of diplomacy, despite the media coaches provided by the team. Raw speaker.

But here, I can see some careful politician-like tightrope walking.

It's just the regular Jos going around doing Jos things. Max knows quitting the team because of his father's stupidity isn't an option for him. If 2026 isn't a great one for Red Bull, that's the time he can think of his options. For now, I think Max must have asked Jos to stay away from F1 circus for a while and not create anymore ruckus.

This particular storyline doesn't make sense. Jos has never had any position of power/influence within RB proper. No one involved will be more familiar with Jos than Max. So it's not like he's suddenly going to be surprised by anything. Max is young but he's not stupid. Managing the microphone wielding idiots asking leading questions will come as second nature to him wrt to the topic of his father. I wouldn't read too much into how those same journos then try to sensationalize Max's responses.

Even if Max is determined to leave I hardly imagine he wants to do so mid season, all the other seats are under contract. So being diplomatic outwardly and focusing on the racing is a smart move. If he announces a move he should do so after the season.

Jos and Max seem to be doing Daedalus and Icarus. Although with Jos' behaviour, it's more like Icarus and Icarus

And they call it a stall. A STALL!

It seems you don't know that Jos started rally driving in November 2021 and he does a great job.
He could never attend a GP when he had to race himself.

Jos Verstappen is making his rally debut

Published on 25 October 2021 by Kees-Jan Koster

Jos Verstappen is making his rally debut shortly. The former Formula 1 driver will make an appearance in the Jack’s International Drenthe Rally, a race on and around the TT Circuit Assen. There will be three times four stages on the programme in Drenthe, both on paved roads and off-road.

It all started with driving a rally car for fun, but it has evolved into something more serious, for which Jos has been training a lot. “I already lost seven kilograms and I run every morning”, says Jos to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. “It will be the first time for me to race with a navigator next to me. I am looking forward to it and I have noticed how much I enjoy rally. It is very unpredictable.”
