Thought the race had some novel parts and maybe not as bad as portrayed here — tho using an overall softer set of tires for the weekend would have lent itself to better racing as tires would not have lasted so long so well.
Confirmed a race pace order for me: Red Bull, Ferrari, Macca, Fred/Aston, Merc.
Confirmed Stroll should not have a seat in F1.
Confirmed Danny is done.
Confirmed the DRS gain in speed for Macca and Merc doesn’t amount to jack squat.
I thought watching the Piastri Lewis battle was interesting. It showed the Macca is insanely fast by comparison to Merc on fast corners. It was amazing to watch Piastri just leave Lewis in the twisty bits once he got past. The Macca must feel good in fast corners.
Thought Bearman did well but my god they made it out to be the greatest racing feat of the decade.
It did show he can hold composure and form under some pressure. But he was driving the second fastest car on the grid, so to me he simply did well and good job. But he didn’t show anything special or some kinda second coming as portrayed.
Wish they would have showed King George trying to catch Fred instead of so much time taken on back markers Haas and Alpine and Williams battling to not get last place. It’s easy to see Liberty is trying to offer camera time to backmarkers regardless of competitive races higher in the field. They also spent way too much time on the far away drone glory shots where the actual racing is lost in fields of pink, green, purple, and blue landscape and lighting.
Crofty and Naomi remain awful and the pre-race show has become unwatchable. A total waste of time. Drivers are now so coached and the hosts so over-produced, it’s basically watching a pre-programmed video game pre-show. Wish folks could speak their mind like the old days to add some authenticity to interviews.
Watching F1 since 1986.
