Please, stop this hype regarding Oliver Bergman. It was just P7, P11 in quali, that does not make him new Schumaher. Please move on. Well done by but only P7 with second fastest car on the grid. He was never even close to match or beeing close to Leckler.

Ollie has won the hearts of Ferrari fans and such opportunity doesn't come by easily. He has a future in F1.

Ollie's performance this race, Liam Lawson's performance last year and Oscar's performance over past 12 months shows how ready these young drivers are for racing in F1. Putting them in those stupid back marker teams is such a waste of time and talent. Let go the old drivers and replace them with young talent and give them a year and you can have the next Max, George, Lando and Charles for far cheaper paycheck.

As for Australia, looking at how much the RB20 has improved in the traction zones compared to the RB19, one could actually say it's now the class of the field in that regard, it will be incredibly hard to beat them there. I personally feel if we continue to struggle that much in the traction zones we'd probably be closer to the 3rd quickest team than to Red Bull.
How is Red Bull class of the field in traction zones? I assume you mean slow speed

Charles said post race to Xavi he struggled to be consistent. I think the tyres weren't getting heat into them(just a prediction tho)
That would be consistent with managing the tires too much instead of running hard. I guess they aren't confident enough yet on solving tire issues.

Pity really.

And here I thought it was just me. Maybe because I have been watching F1 long enough to have seen the truly special debuts, that Bearman doesn't blow me away.

He managed a good race, and salvaged decent points with 7th for the WCC, but this car is comfortably 2nd best behind the RB20.

I think he did a solid job under the circumstances, he had to rush his debut without proper testing and preparation.

It tells us that he can hold his nerve quite well, and probably has a place on the F1 grid.
What it doesn't tell us is that he is a future WDC, he'll need to do a lot more to answer that.

CL: We maximized everything today. We were struggling all the time at the beginning of the stints, whether it was at the beginning of the Medium or beginning of the Hards, we struggled to switch the tyres on. Then towards the end of the stint we were pretty good. With the Medium, we didn't really see that. With the Hard, we saw that towards the end, but it was too late to actually recover what we had lost at the beginning with the battles we had. All in all, it's been a positive race. I think we are doing small steps in the right direction. If I look back the last six, seven months, we are the team that have improved the most and we are slowly closing the gap. So the gap is still quite big. But if we keep working like that, I'm sure it's a matter of time before we put the Red Bull under a bit more pressure.

CL: For the DRS, I don't think that's where we are lacking at the moment, but of course we'll have a further analysis after this weekend to understand exactly what are still our weaknesses and try to update them since last race. However, today I don't think tyre degradation was a thing. It was more about tyre warm-up and we struggled a bit more to bring them to the right temperature in order to push. which made it also a bit more difficult because I had to overtake cars during my warm-up. And that was a bit trickier for us than for them. And that's where they pulled the gap, which then stayed more or less stable towards the end. But that was too late for us to put them under any pressure.

Gap to Max on lap 27 (after Leclerc cleared Norris): 15.6s
Gap to Max on the last lap: 18.6s

I think Ferrari was extremely close in peak performance, as essentially Leclerc said (once the tyres were up to temp), they had this issue with warming up.
It’s a new concept for them, I think they will opt to be less conservative in the coming races.

They may have went too far with tyre preservation with the setup and as a result they have some trouble in early heat up. Once bitten by a snake, you fear a piece of rope...

Ironically, with less wing there'd be more sliding when pushing early and it heats up the tyres faster. A bit more wear but it doesn't have to take too long. Hope they aren't getting swamped with data and forgetting the basics. :)

Marko admits Ferrari is getting closer and the deg on the hards was worse for Red Bull.

As you say, I think the fears of 2023 are still in their minds at Ferrari, but they are on the right path for a competitive fight in the second part of this season and especially in 2025.

Verstappen lost some 3-5s in traffic, he had to lap 5-6 cars i think. He did it carefully and then tyres cooled down, slowing him down. Then he didnt take any chances anymore, even with FL attempt on last lap it wasnt really full on attack. I'd say real gap is anywhere from 3-5 tenths depending on various circumstances.

Like Schumi in his first quali with Jordan. He outqualified his team mate. From day one Schumi was mega talent and champion.

I hope they really explore how far they can push this rope the next race weekend.
Dedicate the entire friday to long runs, experiment with how stiff you can run the car...

It would be crucial to have Carlos back, then they can send both drivers out at the same time with conservative vs aggressive.

Certainly impressive, but De Cesaris was hardly on the level of Leclerc. And Schumacher got the whole weekend in the car, at 22 years old. Bearman beating the likes of Hamilton and Norris in the race on a track like this is very impressive.
