Well, again, the ALO team radio is out of context. It was in the lap the SC came in to be prepared for the restart. I listened to the whole team radio, no complaints during the race for tyre temps.

It's like the (non) race sim ALO did on the last day of testing. After it you were so convinced that they are as fast as Ferrari and faster than Mercedes and McLaren. Comments that we don't know the fuel load (as he boxed between the stints) or engine mode were unheard by you. In the end we now the outcoming...
Yes they was fast as McLaren and Mercedes and on hard was match with Ferrari. Of course we don't know the load and stuffs ,but actually Krack said they excepted the opposite outcome. They was faster on race and slower at one lap when they were testing in Bahrain. And again ,when they was testing long runs was sunny, was warmer, asphalt was warmer. But I don't want to talk about it anymore, lest see the future.

Agreed. Plus he was running c2 hards that are always gonna take a few turns of race pace to get into the right temp.

It was testing, TESTING! And obviously in this specific long run they ran lighter than the rest. Moreover Krack never made such exact statements regarding race or 1 lap pace. Otherwise provide it with a link. He always talked in a very general way.

They days between the test and the race all teams analyzed their perfomance and knew pretty exactly their pace compared to the others. No wonder ALO and the rest very pretty restrained on the media day.

Stroll was on C3 and he never could heat up the tyres at optimal temperature. He ended in the wall.

It did not appear a tyre heat up issue was what caused Stroll's encounter with the barriers...

I have low expectations this weekend. Stroll looks the most vulnerable in the top 5 to fail to score at this moment in time.

Actually hearing the full team radio now of STR and what he said after the race, I don't believe that STR had heat up issues:

lap 4:
Stroll: ---, the tires are struggling, man.

Race Engineer: Yes. Take it easy man, it’s the same for everyone. Tsunoda has DRS but he’s not getting too close. 0.9.
lap 6:
Stroll: This is a shitty pace and my tires are dying.
after the race (formula1.com):
I’d been pushing really hard in those opening laps – the cars around us were definitely faster and the tyres were already struggling.

Stroll was running over 1 sec a lap slower than Alonso. You need to take whatever Stroll says with a grain of salt.

Italian media report that Saudi Arabia investment is scaling up and using AMR they may target Verstappen/Newey

https://formu1a.uno/aramco-potrebbe-ril ... n-e-newey/
Rumors have been circulating in the paddock for some time about the Saudi Arabian oil company's willingness to make acquisitions in Formula 1. In November Lawrence Stroll sold a minority stake in the Aston Martin Formula 1 team to the private equity firm for the first time US-based Arctos Partners .
In Jeddah it became clear that Saudi interest in a massive commitment is growing. The giant is directly controlled by the State, and is therefore connected to a fund established to promote the country in the world also through large acquisitions. It is said that the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix was the ideal ground for confidentially approaching some very high profile profiles, analyzing the feasibility, promising blank checks for future engagements in due course . In this perspective of great development, Red Bull's heavyweights are in the sights: the triple world champion Max Verstappen and the genius Adrian Newey . This seems like a strong acceleration compared to positions from just a few months ago.

It would actually on brand for Alonso's luck for Newey to come to AM just as he gets moved to RB for the new regs.

You would think Alonso has good relations with Aramco - remember that advertisement of the new Saudi circuit?

None of that makes any difference. Stroll has 200 billion to spend, with Saudi they would have double that or more but the cap is less that 200 million!!!!! They can only keep 3 people off the cap. I bet they already have 3 people (big names) that are being payed off the CAP. So you're gonna have give a guy a pay cut or let him go to bring Newey onboard. $45 million a year for Max for the Strolls is chump change. Lawrence isn't Ron Dennis that needed backing to spend with the big boyz. Lawrence has deep pockets.

The journalists writing those articles think its year 2010.

I could definitely see Stroll going after Verstappen to replace Alonso, but not immediately unless the opportunity presents with the drama at Red Bull.

Max is a proper talent, and maybe the only youngster who could really fill Alonso's shoes, and maybe then some.

Newey is a different story. He's getting on in years, so he might consider a consultant role similar to Byrne, IF he leaves Red Bull. But the guy has been there for almost 20 years now and turned down many offers along the way.

There were already rumours in the past, so I would not connect this solely with VER and Newey.

It's the question: what does STR jr. wants to do in the following years?

Once he walks away and the F1 business is still as hot as it is now, Stroll senior can sell the team with an enormous profit. With the works partnership in hand and a state of the art factory.

I believe this can happen if the Red bull situation goes sideway.

- 2026 with the new Honda partnership + Verstappen
- Newey as a special consultant

This could be very great for this team, actually this team might become the next "red bull" team, in terms of way of working and performance

That will leave ALO one year more with Aston before retiring, make sense once again
