RB's Jeddah RW flap looks very scooped, almost the opposite of what Merc have been using for a few seasons.

How long before this interpretation of surface continuity between flaps & endplates (both front and rear) is stopped?
Given the “any attempt to subvert the intent of the regulation changes” attitude when this generation of cars was released there has been very little action. Only way to cure the issue is with mandated endplates??

Tombazis gave an interview halfway through 2023 that revealed what seemed to be a defeatist attitude. The rule changes at end of 2022 to prevent porpoising and what the aero guys had achieved had worsened the wake for the car behind to a significant extent already, so he seemed to suggest that there was little point policing these small bits that all teams are already exploiting as it wouldn't make a large difference.

So they basically are using the lessons learnt to try to prevent these exploits for 2026 rather than patch something that's already broken

I notice that RB and Ferrari don't have the horizontal backplane past the DRS whereas McLaren and Mercedes seem to have quite a large area even past the DRS. Any specific reason to have the larger backplane ?

It's not a horizontal backplane, it's just the view of the other end's vertical endplane playing tricks with our eyes.

It's not a horizontal backplane, it's just the view of the other end's vertical endplane playing tricks with our eyes.

The 6 and half months development comparison at Suzuka and Red Bull seems to have had a difficult winter in comparison to the others. Also they must be hitting the ceiling of the current regulation set.

PS: Not completely accurate as track temperatures were 10 degrees cooler in 2024

Other than Ferrari, every team was a lot slower on average in the race than they were in Q compared to Max. It would be interesting to see avg race lap times compared and how much each team gained this year.

Ive noticed Alpine and Aston floor development is going on opposite paths to each other.

Alpine innermost floor fence has now become a straight "vertical wall" of sorts while Aston recently moved away from it to something akin to what Alpine had previous to that.

The cutout at the back of the floor that Aston had was removed, while Alpine didn't have it previously and now has introduced it!
