Antonelli probably pushed too hard, cooked his tyres.

Yeah, went from P17 to P7 making some great moves, but cooked the tyres. Said in that interview he needed to quickly learn about the tyre deg in F2. Looks a talent though, and quicker than Bearman.

Too early to tell imo. Bearman was unlucky with that collision causing damage to his wing.

Tbh I would wait to say that. I think without damage Bearman finishes ahead today, he was flying before the contact

Tire wear has more to do with the setup than with the driver's way of driving in Formula 2. Hauger, for example, spent the entire 2022 roasting tires with Prema and in 2023 suddenly became the best tire manager with MP, exactly the same as Drugovich at Virtuosi before going to MP. In recent years, MP and Carlin/Rodin had the cars that wore the tires the least.

But this was just the first race of the year and things tend to change throughout the year. Last year Prema also started quite badly and after a few races it became the best car on the grid (almost by magic).

Bearman looked handy last year though, just a bit inconsistent. It’s impressive Antonelli is so close to him from the get go.

Maini and Bearman were just a class above in that quali. Maloney from a race win to P16... the performances might be really volatile.

Poor weekend for Bearman. Good from Antonelli, totally outclassing Bearman. Antonelli seems to be learning quickly.

Not sure we watched the same weekend then. Antonelli had a great qualy, but in the race Bearman was a lot better(including Kimi crashing in the sprint).

I haven't watched the races yet, but results wise Bearman was kinda non existent. 14th and 9th place.
Especially when compared to Antonelli's crash and 4th place.

Antonelli is quick, but very raw. Has a lot to learn about tyre management, but that will take him to the next level.

As for Bearman, apart from the Saudi pole, Bearman has looked an ordinary F2 driver in Bahrain & Australia. Tbh, given how good that Ferrari is, I’m convinced quite a few of the F2 drivers could have matched that drive.

Maloney still looking impressive this season.

Bearman couldn't complete a good lap in qualifying due to red flags.

This destroyed his race.

He just got screwed by the red flag in qualy, on the lap that was canceled out by the red flag he was faster than Kimi. Additionally, got hit with a penalty(his fault tbf) which should have been P8 in the sprint, and in the feature race Prema messed up his strategy with a double stack, had they left him out one more lap, he would have been net P2. Not to mention someone hitting him and causing a spin. He had a very unlucky weekend and this is why it is important to actually watch the races...

Kimi himself said he struggled massively with the pace and tyre management here. He is still very raw, I really doubt he is ready for F1.

Antonelli looks like a pure talent. Bearman looks decent but his dad has done some heavy lifting in his career. It's hard to tell what he will be. A Litifi or a Sainz
