I still see understeer in Aston Martin even on the fastest lap (since Suzuka is front limited) and in my opinion this was the penalizing part. This front doesn't work very well. Anyway let's hope for tomorrow, even if I think it's tough. Congratulations obviously to Fernando Alonso, anyone who criticizes him is better off following other sports

To be honest the pure pace is more impressive than last year with McLaren Mercedes and Ferrari having fixed their issues, having that kind of speed .

Now again let’s see race pace

It seems upgrad is working as expected. however they are not improving the time thought qualy session. not sure why.

Alonso always does this, take a look at all other qualifying sessions, he pushes pretty hard in Q1/Q2/Q3, there isn't much more pace he can find in Q3, unlike the other teams which don't push as hard in Q1/Q2.

I'm still a little skeptical with race pace, but hopefully the improvement continues into tomorrow! We've just been 20 seconds + from the next McLaren in races so far this year, hope to close this gap tomorrow.

I thought Alonso Qualying in P5 ahead of the Mercs and Piastri and Lecerc was very impressive, and just 0,04 behind Sainz, even at his age he is still a beast, I thought Mclaren and Merc and Ferarri are easily faster and would beat him in Q3 , Just imagine Alonso in a Red Bull........

I wouldn't say so. If I am correct only Perez improved more than Alonso on the last Q3 lap.

Track was quicker however, nearly 10 degrees less asphalt and air temperature.

I guess ALO has 3 new sets - one of each compound. Fabrega posted that AMR returned a second medium set after FP2 and obviously one set of hards after FP3.
