Andretti has a deal with Ferrari for the PU at least for the 2026 when Sauber/audi will not get it anymore
Having a deal with Ferrari, would be if they get a new F1 team, which looks impossible right now. Buying an existing team, would fall outside the scope of that deal with Ferrari..

Two teams did not see it fit to have him in any leading position…

Their head of aero was also in that position at Williams over recent years…..

I don't think Sanchez can be blamed for this... He was part of the team that created the succesful 2022 Ferrari car until TD039 changed things...

Mclaren's job turned out to be less senior than thought...

It seems like the Sanchez-McLaren split is more of a culture fit than anything. I think the Race's theory of Sanchez not fitting in the "flat" technical structure of McLaren is at least plausible. Alpine has more of a traditional linear CTO/TD setup so maybe it would be a good fit. Plus it seems like McLaren developed a lot (personnel-wise and technically) in the time between his announcement and actual arrival. Probably one of the top names on the market for now, although Alpine haven't exactly gone and headhunted anyone for the TD role in a while. I guess Fry was the last, but before him? Nobody comes to mind since they had James Allison over a decade ago.

Can Sanchez help Alpine-Renault on the path to win the championship? :)

As we have discussed, the facilities are apparently world class, the budget is at the cap... So what is lacking to add those WDC and WCC titles to the trophy cabinet (or at least be a regular top 3 WCC team routinely found on the podium)? :?:

The gist of it is that he thinks the team is going to be sold one way or another. It's too big of a mess. He says Laurent Rossi made the team literally lose years.

Well based on the exodus and mismanagement. They probably should have asked fry that while he was still there. What do we do to keep you and help us improve????

Instead, the said no to him and allowed him to leave.

Pretty weird that they got rid of Omar and the other guy because they said it was gonna take to long to compete. Now they basically starting over with a new 5 year plan.

Otmar probably said the same thing at Aston and was promptly shown the door

He was not let go at Aston. He left on his own to take the Alpine job. they had taken responsibility from him though.

How to fix Alpine:

Sign a deal with AMR Honda for a RB/RBR style listed parts agreement. Rebrand PU as Renault.
Immediately assign the engineers at Viry to using the current Renault F1 tech to make 3/4/6cyl, high mileage hybrid PU's for road cars. Push this "top secret" tech to the market before any other F1 manufacturer, and reinvest the bump in profit.
Find a leader like Arrivabene to step in and drag it into shape.

Win by 2028!

The only thing that will fix this team is to bring back the Flav.

For me, it's the guy at the very top. He let Omar go. Which means it was him that said no to whatever Fry asked for. Doesn't matter who you put below him, he'll handcuff them.

So probably Rossi or De Meo.

But if we look at the results, whatever org (which let's be honest is no different to other teams) or processes they put in place since 2017 didn't work better than before, Fry joined in 2020 and from 2018 to 2022 they were always 5th or 4th, relative to the others it didn't make a difference.

It may be a shortcut but Fry didn't have an influence (in terms of results), but then he stayed 3 years... to realize the team didn't have the ambition ? The reasons he gave upon his departure seem really generic to me.
