Speaking of delusions, can't forget 2022's "LeWiS gOt OuTpErFoRmEd BeCaUsE oF tEsTiNg."

In 2024, it's the same thing, and Lewis admits, "My bad." Maybe he should try racing instead of making excuses so the fans wouldn't have to wear tinfoil hats.

How'd about we take it down a notch please?

Time will tell - fanatical nonsense adds nothing and please do refrain from personal digs - I'll delete your posts...good content or not if you are calling one another trolls/idiots and suchlike.

Merc team thread is not fanboy yin-yang

Thank you. This thread is getting out of control with the hamilton bashing bringing up vettel and 2014 even. It's not adding value. Criticism is fine but at least on the race and team perspective.

Binnotto for me is a technician. Totto is not. He is a businessman. Mercedes need someone who can look into the fine details.

The aero philosophy is wrong and so is the wholistic philosophy of the car.

The tools are also not being used to look on the right things. Mercedes dont know what to look at also.
The team needs someone who can say hey look here and not there. Do things this way etc...
Maybe Binnotto or someone high up in Redbull should join to solve the issues.
For Sure!!

Mercedes’ upgrade in Miami will reportedly come with changes to the floor, above and below, to correct the flow pattern and stabilise the aero map of the W15 at certain speed ranges. The detachment of the fluid vein is present, it seems, an aspect that greatly reduces the performance of the car. What's more, "corrections" will come in the central part of the single-seater, side pod area, with a probable necessary re-shaping to gain a few more cubic centimeters in the undercut area. apparently,
It remains to be seen whether the multi-award-winning stable will introduce the new rear wing that has been in the works for some time. From the info gathered, we know that it is an upgrade capable of maximizing the load at the rear related to the beam-wing configuration, a context that is imperfect at the moment, as the combined work of the two current components is not as effective as it should be. Mercedes is ready to implement a step with which it would like to unlock some of the unexpressed potential and, of course, widen the car's tuning window.

It looks more like they're correcting the car than upgrading it.

i don't think it's the aero or at least not the visible parts, the zeropods was the fasyest concept you can get with these regs but they can't make it work
was it the mechanical side? why are they having bouncing 3 years later and had to revert back to the old testing floor

aston martin works better while having the same rear and they got it late last season

LH and Merc may mutually decide to part ways before the end of the season. Lewis may want more time to recharge while Merc can evaluate new driver and keep LH prying eyes from their new development for 2025.

At this point just swap seats with sainz and start early, unless he is going to redbull

That is semantics. Upgrades are target to bring performance. When there is a performance deficit you might call it "corrections"

I’m always reminded that there is no guarantee of a fix either, because the issues that caused it to be wrong in the first place (something like correlation) aren’t a given to be fixed.

People don’t design things to be “wrong” from the get go and unless the tools and knowledge on the front end of the design is completely understood, you’ll never fully correct anything.

Three seasons in, and it’s clear Mercedes is having big issues with their modeling, correlation, and engineering prowess. How many times now have we heard that they “fixed it” over the last three seasons?

They fixed 'a lot', It is not like W14 was slower than W13, or W15 is slower than W14.
For instance, George's Jeddah quali laps from 2022 to 2024,
1:29.104 (pole:1:28.200),
1:28.857 (pole:1:28.265),
1:28.316 (pole:1:27.472).

My speculation is that every team has a similar gap between their tools and reality, but they put harder targets to hit during development, while Merc set their targets based on the scores from their tool and think they will be champion based on the data that they have.

This might be the best thing to do at this point. I knew it would be an awkward year but it’s even worse than I thought. Maybe put mick in the car and pay Lewis to take the rest of the year off.
Other awkward moments could be spotted all weekend as well. I.e. Toto could be seen not celebrating when Lewis got p2 in the sprint while other garage members were doing so. Just finalize the divorce early ffs.

Yes, they wouldn't want Lewis telling Ferrari all the things that don't work...

I don't know what information or intel Hamilton or any driver will carry for that matter. Drivers are not engineers and while some may pretend to be like that, they aren't engineers at the end of the day.

Mercedes top staff seem to not find a magic bullet that will make a much more rounded car which McLaren did last year and Ferrari did this year. Sure McL/Ferrari lack performance in pure terms but they don't have these mood swings the Mercedes car supposedly has. Same with Aston, far more liveable car from all that we have heard thus far.

Mercedes are a very good team at developing their car over a season. That hasn't changed imo. What seems to be the issue is something more fundamental.

Mercedes didn't finish 2nd in the WCC for no reason last year. Consistently 3rd best team while everyone else except RB played roulette.
