I think it was smart to prioritise setup for the race, they can put a lot of pressure on Perez tomorrow
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

I don't think they made good changes. The other teams improved by at least half a second compared to yesterday.

Ysterday they cooked the tyres which is why they could push the medium so hard. Today they didn't seem to get the medium up to temperature in one lap which actually bodes well for tomorrow

If they used the sprint quali setup again today I would've expected pole but for the race a F1-75 post-td performance

That’s a bit depressing, still third quickest with a b-spec car
Let's see how we go. We may well have set this up for the race.
Lando didn’t make it to the exit of T1 in the sprint which is basically the ‘rong run sim’ in FP2, IF (and I believe he didn’t) make a set up change for the race then he’s had a worldie🤦🏼‍♂️
Are you doing a scooby doo impression? 🤣

It'll be a different setup, they will have loads more data after SQ and the Sprint Race.

How different? I don't know. Looks to me more like they can't get the softs to work here, car gets a bit too much heat into the softs.

Race will be better as well be on tires that favour us.

Almost certainly they had some sort of change in their setup after the disaster with the softs at SQ3 yesterday. I don't understand why you're "demanding" P1 from them though. It's not a bad result. Not what I was hoping after yesterday, but an extra day gave Ferrari enough time to get more dialed in. Hotter temps and the track layout suits them more.

Agreed. Some one-lap pace was sacrificed, but they were putting too much heat onto the tires like that so it was going to hurt them on the race. A pole is not worth anything that way.

Maybe they can even fight for a podium, but that depends on how Carlos goes tomorrow.

I feel dissapointed as I knew the B Spec car is much faster than what we've seen.

One sprint Qualy doesn't make a season. We were always going to need 3 or 4 races to gauge the pace of the update.

and the Ferraris and Verstappen. Oscar was quick in the sprint and he's usually slower in the races.

Leclerc had pretty good pace on the sprint, but I don't want to be ultra pessimistic. At least Lando is starting higher up tomorrow.

Years are passing though and the team is stuck as best of the rest. Next GP both Ferrari and Red Bull are gonna bring upgrades.

So Lando did make changes after not making it the the exit of T1 in the sprint and he wishes he could go back on them now. Excellent

So, based on the results of the qualification, I was extremely pleased. Uncomfortable long slow turns, hot asphalt, long straights and in the end we are only 3 tens behind Red Bull Verstappen. This is a very worthy result. Very similar to what I was hoping for. Previously, McLaren lost on average 5 tenths in quali and 6 tens in the race.

Yes, this is still the same starting position as the average for the current season, but both McLarens have moved closer to the invincible Red Bull. This is a fact that cannot be argued with. On other tracks, including in cooler conditions, this car will be extremely fast and may be able to fight for 1-2 place.

Exactly a year ago, the worst weekend for the team took place here in Miami. The car did not make it out of the first qualifying segment, but in the race Max and the others went a full lap. There was no pace at all. Now everything looks different: Oscar calmly put pressure on Sainz, then let him go, then put pressure on him again. Yes, it is clear that this is because of slow Dan.

The team has already lost points in the sprint, so it is necessary to minimize losses. There is nothing else left. I hope the updated car takes better care of the tires on the race.
