He should have already been promoted to team principal at Red Bull...

I've always been a fan of Wheatley, I had hopes after Horner drama he would be promoted to Team Principal.

Also which team are looking for one right now? It would seem most positions have recently been occupied.
As for changes to setup. Seems there is more understeer in RB20
Max to Merc.
Plot twist: with Wheatley replacing Toto.

I also wish Jonathan gets a TP job somewhere since he seems to want that.

Max said in post qualy interview that he thinks they improved the car.
Still quick enough for pole by a margin and seems to have a fair bit of understeer (which going by past events like hungary, bahrain) suggests they will manage the rear tyres okay tomorrow
I agree, they changed something to protect the rear tires after the sprint race. After Max's pole lap, he said the rear tires were too cold in the first sector.

Verstappen stated that the tires did not behave very well in qualifying. He also had this feeling in the sprint qualifying and he speaks out to Viaplay: "There was very little grip with the tires. It was a kind of on-off feeling with the tires all the time. You go into the corner, and sometimes you have grip, and sometimes you don't. In the first sector it goes okay, and then the tire drops again in the second and third sectors, or the other way around. That just makes it very difficult and inconsistent."
Frustrating

After the sprint race, Red Bull had adjusted a number of things to Verstappen's set-up. The reigning world champion states that the balance was slightly better: "I think it was better, yes. Of course it was always difficult to say when the tires are so difficult, but I do think it will be a little better for the race ." Verstappen was bothered by the tires: "It's just very difficult. One small moment and you immediately lose one and a half tenths. If you're on the limit, that's a lot. So it's very difficult, and it's quite frustrating to to ride along."

Red Bull CEO Mintzlaff does not fear Verstappen's departure

Mintzlaff says he has no fear that Verstappen will follow in Newey's footsteps. "He is a thoroughbred racer and wants to win every race, every qualifying and every training session. This connects us. It’s in his and our DNA. And he finds the perfect conditions for this with us. We have created a unique setup, built the best car in Formula 1," he said in a conversation with Bild.

The Red Bull chief also points to Verstappen's contract, which runs until the end of 2028. "Max still has a long-term contract here and hasn't said a word that he doesn't want to fulfill it. I'm not at all worried that he's considering a move. Things just have to calm down again now. That’s what Max wants – and that’s what we want too. You also need that if you want to be successful in the long term in sport, whether in football or Formula 1," he continued.

Max can be 2nd on this list by season end...

Most Poles to Wins:

1. Lewis Hamilton - 61
2. Michael Schumacher - 40
3. Sebastian Vettel - 31
3. Max Verstappen - 31

Safety car costed Max the win today.

The team choose a wrong set up, but Max would have still win it without the SC. Bad luck happens.

Just the truth. Norris was too far in the race to win, he wasn't even able to overtake Perez on track. McLaren gambled on a safetycar and got it at the perfect moment.

The mistake of the SC catching Max also prevented Red Bull from changing tyres too.

My mistake. Yes, second or third car on pure pace, but it would have been enough to snatch the victory in normal circumstance due to the pole position.

I wonder why they stopped early. It's risky when you don't have the pace advantage to cover a SC anyway.

Because Max’ fight was with Leclerc. He needed the 3 second gap as he wasn’t the fastest car today.

Very unfortunate the SC but they hadn’t the luxury to stay out longer.
