Red Bull has two powertrain companies.

As of Dec 2023 one had 439 employees and turnover of 184 million pounds, the other had 166 employees and a turnover of 60 million pounds

Together that is 605 employees and turnover (in 2023) of 244 million pounds (300 million dollars) put together since February 2022

Doesn't seem unrealistic at all that 200 of those staff came from HPP given the proximity of the two teams. HPP would've been target #1 for any recruitment drive given they have had top performance historically and there are no re-location issues for staff like there are with Ferrari, Renault, and Honda.

I thinks you mix up the F1 division (under the budget cap) with the engine/power-train divison (under development restrictions). 220 staf out of 1000+ ain’t that crazy if folks can proceed quite reliably within their career.

This might be the wrong place, but since Magnussen's risk of a ban is a hot topic: what if the FIA delineated certain offenses as race ban-worthy and one of those would be required to trigger a race ban in conjunction with penalty points received? A driver would have to receive a certain # of penalty points, after which (or along with, if the threshold is reached by such a penalty) the next designated ban penalty triggers a raceban.

Other than non-fault DNFs, only Max and Lewis have finished every race in the points so far this season (both failing to finish in Australia because of mechanical failures).
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

Technical regs have just been adjusted mid-season. Most interesting is change to regulation regarding asymmetrical braking maps

In 2022, Mercedes struggled with separating brake disc temperatures which caused their car to pull to one side under braking.
Hamilton also suffered from a brake issue, which team principal Toto Wolff later admitted was a "big" issue that needed solving over the winter.

"I had some brake problems," Hamilton added. "We've had it most of the year, with the brake discs separating at brake temperature.

"So when you hit the brake the car pulls in one direction. Going into Turn 5, the cars pulling to the right and it's a left-hand corner, so it's not ideal."

Ferrari also had this problem at the season opener in Bahrain.
"The team told me on the radio that it was more than 100 degrees split between from front right and front left, which is huge.

"At that moment, I understood that the best thing I could do was just to bring the car home to the chequered flag.

There are grounds for suspicion of both of the teams given that there were documented temperature separation issues that could have been caused by or mitigated by such a system.

You could also just consider which cars were good under braking and which cars struggled under the braking. Ferrari and Aston Martin were always good under braking. Red Bull was always weak under braking. A car running this kind of system would have stood out in the brake zones.

I think referring to Red Bull.
The rumors were around their suspension though. Its possible but I wonder why we're only heading about this now? Certainly it could explain the drop off they have had.

I guess I was wondering if t was McLaren or Merc that have suddenly found a lot of pace through the season.
