Red Bull RB20

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Mclaren diffuser looks much larger than the Red Bull because of the skinner gearbox

I think the angle here deceives your perception somewhat. Both diffusers rise relatively similarly after the plank and are relatively similar in size.
RB 20 gearbox seems to be same as RB 19

The RB19 gearbox was already super small in the diffuser area. RB were the first team to go down that route and other teams followed later. So there would not have been much scope for improvement in that area on RB20.

The floor edge looks interesting to say the least. Is it something they have run before or is it new?
Think it's the same as before. I can't see any changes on the car as shown.

Interesting that they’ve started specifying CFD as the upgrade methodology. I wonder if these are parts they haven’t tested in the tunnel due to their time restrictions.

Limited WT time will affect the number of iterations. I'm pretty sure they test the final version which goes to production.

Those are certainly some of the most detailed descriptions for updates provided by any team I've seen so far.

Yes, very. You could really look at pictures now to see exactly what has been done.

They had some mid-corner stability issues, especially in the mid-speed range (think Bahrain corners 11 and 13), so this front-wing update will likely solve that.

That's the second time they are making changes to the top front part of the floor since launch, unexpected to see such attention to a fairly minor impact area. Front wing changes mostly related to flap trim, as expected though.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

If there was a 'dislike' button for the context of your post it would get it! None of us RBR fans want pics of the floor to be shown around the internet, especially after a update again. 3 years, and 3 cases we get to see the floor each time.

Shame that the forum isn't just RBR fans then - the rest of us are very keen to have a look under the car. =D>

Im sure there will be a few photographers who are making a good few quid from the teams in the paddock right now too!
