thought this was both funny and interesting, James leaving the track with a secretly wrapped nose cone on his shoulder, ted asked if he was going to show him inside and James said "I don't know what's in there. Might be all our cocaine"

That is weird. Hamilton’s total time in the pits was 3 seconds slower than Sainz yet he had the second fastest pit stop. Was he held in his pit box to let others through?

I read that they have a big upgrade package planned for Canada but might bring some of it if not all to Monaco if they're quick enough

Russell had a puncture ? Why did he pit ?
Oh. His tyre pressures were fine. But he couldn't manage the pyschological pressure of losing pace hand over fist with a charging 44 car behind him.

yea surprised about this too, did not expect them to be this fast.

While there is no public confirmation about the timing of the Mercedes upgrades, it is understood that the plan is to have the full package in place for the Canadian Grand Prix next month – although parts could be brought forward to Monaco if they are ready in time.

Its hard for me to get excited by upgrade packages honestly. The others arent standing still. Both mclaren and ferrari said there is a lot more to come so the status quo isnt likely to change imo. I mean merc has improved. Just look at how they left aston behind. But the top three teams are developing faster so far.

Any clues to suggest whether the car might find itself - relative to competitors at least - more competitive at Monaco?

Just wondering given the high speed struggles earlier in the year, do they have a strong performance on the mechanical grip side of things that usually lends itself so well to Monaco?

In previous years there were clues from the likes of Red Bull and Ferrari that they would be strong at Monaco despite not being in the fight with the then-dominant Mercedes team.

Any optimism or logic to suggest Mercedes could enjoy Monaco more than conventional tracks?

Mercedes were actually very strong in the slow speed corners in Bahrain but it has completely flipped after they reverted to their floor from testing. They're decent in faster corners but lose lots of time in slow corners as seen in Miami.

Should be quite some way off here too. Hamilton isn’t very good round here, given previous Q performances.

As with Monaco, basically try and keep it out the walls for two hours, and see where you finish.

AMuS said Merc are trying to bring a full package that was planned for Canada to Monaco this week and it's to increase performance and balance of the car. I would assume it would address their performance in the slow speed corners considering both Monaco and Canada, where it was originally planned for, are a bunch of slow speed corners

3s seems too much. 1s deviation would be reasonable, given actual stop times are withing a few tenths. You sure about this number?
